Warm, Blocks Wind, Best thing I have bought for hunting in a long time
I bought this at the end of the 2017 hunting season when I was getting pretty chilly in the blind. Trying to stay warm for 3-4 hours at a time when you are required to sit 'statue still' when hunting game, is far different than just putting on some layers to go play in the snow, snow shoeing, or what ever.In this situation, you do not have your activity warming you up. So in addition to the normal areas to insulate, you have to pay special attention to your major blood vessels. Meaning, your upper legs, wrists, ankles and neck. In 2017, my regular hat and neck gaiter were not cutting it. You have alot of time to think in a deer blind, so I started thinking up a better solution. Turns out, they make it, and this is it!I consider this a "hunting cowl" for lack of a better term. I have used it for the most part of the 2018 hunting season, and it was a cold one. It covers deep, down over my whole neck and some on my shoulders. Covers the back of my neck perfectly. I can sit still very long periods of time with this thing. It's THICK and very warm. It blocks the wind. It works in the hood configuration, the face mask configuration and the gaiter configuration. And it's silent to adjust.I also use this while sleeping at night when camping in the winter. Keeps my toasty. I honestly have no complaints about this item other than I wish it came in hunter orange. I'm buying a 2nd in case they stop making these and I lose mine. I sound like a shill, but I tell you, every day hunting this year, I thanked my stars for two things. This cowl, and my new jeep.

Slaying Dragons (and the wind)
Love my hood!! I use it for walking to work, here in the Midwest it gets below zero plus windchill. I not only look like a bada** assasin dragon slayer, but keep my nose, cheeks & most importantly neck toasty warm!! (I have arthritis) I can even fit a wool knit hat underneath too. love the olive green color! Would definitley recommend to anyone who has arthritis in their neck or anyone looking for an all terrain scarf that works.

Toasty, but on the small side.
A little smaller than I expected, it fits very close around my face (I'm a smallish female) and I can't imagine ever needing to pull the drawstring tighter. It's really thick and warm! I expect to be soaking wet with sweat if I walk to work wearing this, even in subzero weather. Face mask portion folds down perfectly inside the hood for bulk-free comfort and pulls up far enough to cover a bit more than half my nose. Will not impede my ability to wear my glasses. I do wish the neck gaiter were larger/wider/looser because it doesn't lay nice, but is bunched up and will cause my jacket collar to feel a little too tight if I zip it up fully.

This is so warm you might sweat
I use it for winter hiking like single digits... my only complaint is that it wrecks my peripheral vision

Tactical, heavyweight balaclava
I got my balaclava this morning and I love it! I got a gray one and it's a very nice color with a bluish tint to it. It's pleasantly warm, heavyweight, but not suffocating. The opening for your face is very open and is adjustable. For instance, the material that covers the chin/mouth area can be pulled up to increase the facial coverage, or pulled down and tucked under the chin for eating, drinking, to allow air circulation, etc. There are flaps of material in the front and back tuck into the collar of the shirt that you are wearing like a dickey. It keeps the wind out and keeps you even more warm. It's really worth tucking those flaps in.The balaclava is also equipped with drawstring that are thick and capped with plastic caps. Pulled tight, it closes very tightly. There's room to poke your nose out, and it seems like great protection against the wind. I wouldn't operate a vehicle like that, but at a winter football game where the wind swirls and whips, it would be perfect. There's not much else to say about it, except that I'd definitely recommend it to anyone!

Perfect for the slopes!
Great, head mask! I went skiing in Breckinridge for the first time and I wanted something to keep my mouth and neck warm. I saw this product online and figured for the price, "why not." I'm a girl, so my concern was if this was going to be too big or masculine looking on me, but it worked great and great for both genders! It kept me warm on the slopes! Definitely recommend it!

Functions well, looks dope as hell... how can you do wrong?
Oh little friend, you are a furnace for my noggin. So delightful.See, I'm one of those folliclely challenged Americans, and I love hoodies in the winter time. But sometimes, not often, but sometimes, I'm not layered in a hoodie, but I want a hood. AH_HA, screamed the good people of Oldelf! This says it's a balaclava, and it is, in terms of cut, but it is a heavyweight hood in terms of material thickness and seaming. Within seconds, my head is smoking like the top of a wood chimney. I love this thing. Now, I live in Missouri, so I get winter, but I'm from Michigan, and so, I understand WINTER. If I were back home, I might pair this with a thinner cap or balaclava on the inside, to improve heat retention and resist wind a little better, but really, if you're not in that kind of capital W winter, the hood itself shoulder really do you. The additional neck material means it tucks easily in my leathers, or covers the neck hole in my serape, and you get a great heat seal that way.

Warm and versatile
My 12 year old boy wanted this as it is versatile. When his asthma is bad he can pull it up to cover his mouth. All in all a good buy.

Great!
This hood/snood is made of heavy, soft, and really warm fleece. It works great! One con (this isn't necessarily a con; it may actually work to your advantage): it's really big! To give you some idea: I'm only 5'3", so I'm pretty small, and the hood wraps all the way around my head and tucks under my chin, touching my kneck. But the size does seem to make it warmer and more comfortable, so unless you're extremely fashion-conscious this is probably a pro. If you ARE extremely fashion-conscious, then you can wear it all compressed down around your kneck like a scarf when in a crowded public place, and it'll still keep your kneck and lower face warm. This product is so effective that I'm considering ordering a few more to give to homeless people that I see in town; they need all the warmth they can get now that it's getting colder.

as in if its not snowing like mad your going to be sweating warm
This thing is insanely warm, as in if its not snowing like mad your going to be sweating warm.Only downside is the hood is massive and floppy, so i advise wearing a baseball cap to keep it out of your eyes, but aside from that its fantastic. You can actually wear a baseball cap backwards and still have ample coverage (dont ask how i found that out)The face cover is kind of like a buff, it goes all the way round and can be tucked away if nessecary, and the bottom has plenty of material to tuck in to your shirt

Snug.
I travel many miles on a mobility scooter, exercising my dog. This snood/Balaclava is perfect for my needs. It guarantees total warmth for head, face and neck. It's lightweight and flexible, and stays put when I turn my head to watch for traffic etc. The front panel can cover mouth and nose or rest easily below chin. I wouldn't go out without it in winter. It's stylish too.

Great for cold weather and a nice choice of colours.
Great for cold weather camping, walking, sailing etc. and a nice choice of colours. The drawcord enables the fit to be adjusted and it can be worn as a hat if the bottom is rolled up or as a scarf/neck warmer if the hat is rolled down. My head size is 58/59 cms or 7 7/8", which is on the large side, so I was concerned that it may be too small. It fits perfectly and may be a little too roomy for some. The thinnest part of the hat is the part that covers the top of my head and it felt a little unprotected compared to the parts of my head that were covered by one or two layers. I may replace the cord with a thinner one so I can adjust it with spring toggles rather than tying a knot. I bought two as I'm always losing hats it seems.

Just the job
This is a lovely soft thick quality fleece type balaclava with a drawstring around the face. I purchased this to keep me warm around the farm and it does not disappoint. The blue is quite a bright royal blue, it is roomy so you don't feel claustrophobic but is very cosy and I love it! It can be adjusted tight with the drawstring around the face or loosened off and taken back to wear as a snood. All in all this is a lovely stylish product and I am pleased with it. I would recommend this item.I received this product at a discount in exchange for an honest review.

Brilliant!
I am very pleased with this product! It's perfect for cold days as the material is thick and soft, however not too thick which means that you won't overheat! I was worried that the material would rub against my face and cause soreness (as I have sensitive skin) but I was pleasantly surprised! The material stays in place and doesn't cause me any irritation. The hood is large with room, which I found pleasant as is can be a loose fit or you can tighten it with the strings. The part that covers your face is a breathable material, but I found that it's a little looser than I would have preferred. The product itself is very versatile. You can wear it with or without a hood, and the part that covers your face can be pulled down. This is very helpful as it can be adjusted to suit the temperature.I find that this item is perfect for wearing around the house or when I am taking a nap, yet it can be worn easily outside. I ordered the black one and I find that this blends well with a lot of my clothes. I am definitely impressed with this as I do not want any attention drawn to me, and the subtlety of this product allows me to stay incognito throughout the day!I received this product at a discount in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.

Keeps the wind out perfectly
I love this product. Fits snugly around the face and can be tightened even closer still for cold winds by using the drawstrings. Sits over the shoulders which leaves no gaps for wind to get in. The mask area is great for every morning when it's extra cold. If a bit warmer the hood can be pulled down and you have a lovely neck scarf. The blue in the photo is my bluer than shown. It's a royal blue which makes it very bright. Ideal product for both men/women. In fact I'm buying another for my husband it's that snug.

This is a fantastic product. My only gripe was that the one I got was a little large. Fair to say I could have changed that at any time, but honestly I didnt feel a real need to. It's thick, warm and covers you exactly how you'd expect with pull ties for comfort. I've used it a few times now, considering it's coming to winter and honestly it has saved my neck each time. The hood is large enough to cover my head entirely, and due to the long hair, that was more than welcomed on the rainy days I wore it. The "face mask" was great for trapping in warm air and kept my face snug.Brilliant product and if you're tittering on the edge of whether or not to buy it, then please, just do. You won't regret it.

Keeps the rain and wind away - perfect for long walks with dogs and hiking up in the mountains.
I enjoy clothes made from nice soft fleece and this balaclava is made of a very thick fleece. I ordered black colour as that seems to go with most of my clothes. I wanted to wear it for few days before writing a review. If you need something to keep you warm this is it - The drawstring round the face area will pull tight so this keeps wind and rain away totally and the nice extension of the neck part covered face half way - I put it on so only my eyes were showing and it was very warm. I loved the feel of it on my neck - really warm.It seems to be rather big in size - it's a shame there is no choice in sizes. I would definitely recommend it for someone with larger head hence 4 stars instead of 5 as my head seems small. It's ok if you like your clothes fitting loose.I've also used it to sleep in it - I've been looking for a sleep hat and when this fits so loosely and comfortably I thought I try and I must admit it was lovely - something about being surrounded by warmth all over seems to work wonder for my sleep. Apparently we loose lots of heat through out head - I remember watching old movies with people wearing funny hats for sleeping and it actually works.I got a slight discount in return for an honest an unbiased review.

Big disappointment..
Bought it because it looked quite cool as a face mask on the lady featured in the advertisement, however, when it arrived it turned out to be shapeles and baggy whilst at the same time being too small if you wanted to have the face cover up. You had to have the bottom of the hood level with your chin instead of resting where it should on the lower part of your neck, and the face cover part was so baggy with no means of adjusting, it just sort of flopped about around my mouth. Very disappointed, hence it was swiftly returned for a full refund.

Comfortable and a bit better than a hoodie
Comfortable fleece material which keeps in the heat despite being quite thin.No problems with stitching or quality-good for the cost.Flap at chin covers lower face making it a little more warm than a hoodie when used as balaclava.Neck/shoulder shape didn't fit me very well, but guess it would tuck in to prevent draft so the larger size might be an advantage. It's hard to see when closed up because of the circular cut of the draw string, so be prepared to look a bit like Kenny from South Park to keep warm!I did receive this product for a discounted price in return for a review.

Pretty bad product.
The massive "logo", way bigger than it looks on the picutre, is absolutely terrible and shoddily knit. Very uncomfortable to wear in terms of material. Yet, somehow not tight enough around the mouth / nose area (therefore providing terrible insulation), which is pretty poor for "one size fits all". It was cheap but a waste of £10.

Really nice if you feel the cold but don't want to look like a terrorist or bank robber
I got two of these, one for my son who wanted one and one for me. They're so comfy and warm and look great. He wears his even in the house.
