I bought these retractable ratchet straps two years ago and I am writing this review as an update for a product that is well made, durable and dependable.When I first received these, I was very pleased with the ability to extend 10’ across a load in my pickup. When the truck was empty, the ratchets self-coiled back into themselves, saving the hassle of having to manually wind them back. 10’ is a long strap to manually wind. Having them retract made every task much easier to perform. Imagine driving a load strapped in my pickup while driving in the rain. Typically, winding wet straps manually is a bear, especially if it’s raining. What does one normally do in that situation? “Awwww forget it…I’ll do this later” then they get tossed into the back or into the cab, only to forget. With the PowerTye ratchets, that is no longer EVER an issue. Simply push the red button and watch as they retract back to you….in seconds! Even when wet, the retraction worked perfectly. I would later pull them out and let them dry in the shop.About 4 months ago, I noticed that both ratchets seemed to lose their ummph when it came to retraction. They would retract 80%….then a few weeks later, 40%….then they stopped retracting. I was bummed.But PowerTye has a lifetime warranty. Reluctantly, I reached out to them expecting a lot of questions, roadblocks and headaches. Turns out, my assumption was WAY OFF with this company. I sent them a copy of the receipt and photos. Turns out, they make an upgraded version specific to the retraction system so that it does not fail or become weak. With that, they simply sent me a new pair with the upgraded retraction! No returns, no hassles and no headaches. Just good ol’ fashioned customer service. I should have expected that since this is a 100% Made in the USA product and company. They stand behind their word which is more than I can say for products not made in the USA.The ratchets themselves are STOUT! The webbing is incredibly strong and well made. No frays on the stitching after two years of service. No rips or tears or even wear marks!The end-hooks are also STOUT! They are made of thick steel with a rubber coating. They are shaped well and easily hook on to the stakes on my truck with ease.The ratchet mechanism is also STOUT! The handle is easy to grasp and the lockout mechanism is foolproof. Just tie the hooks and ratchet until your load is secure. When it’s time to release, push the handle all the way down and the mechanism releases. Here, all you do is press the red button and the tensioner steps in to wind the strap back to you. It’s that easy.Hands down, having a retracting ratchet is not just a convenience…it’s a necessity. My favorite purchase in a long time. I sell furniture and need tie downs,but despise traditional ratchet straps. These are so easy, no fuss. Pull and then ratchet. Push button to release and then retracts in. Just wish they made in 15 feet length too

My husband purchased another brand, of tie down straps, to use with our ATV & trailer, at a retail store. The straps were a bit “slick” & loosened, causing great concern. He asked me to check on retractable tie downs, since I tend to thoroughly investigate products. I checked Amazon &, after reading the reviews, we agreed this brand would be an excellent choice, so I placed an order. The tie downs arrived promptly, &, after using them, my husband thinks these tie downs are the best he has ever used. The quality is excellent, & the retractable mechanism makes it easy for him to tie down our ATV on the trailer. The straps stay in place & never loosen. We are a retired couple & my husband, a veteran, has some physical limitations. He highly recommends these retractable tie downs.

I use these in my side by side trailer. They stay out in the weather and are subject to harsh conditions i have to replace them every couple years but fir the price they are worth it!
