the book takes you there
Pablo Escobar was a very unconscionable man but also very interesting. The dichotomy of being such a loving father and husband albeit not a faithful one is fascinating. How can these two extremes fit into one person at the same time. There is no doubt of his love for his family. In the end he could not sustain the loyalty he needed to cover his life and he caused so much chaos to everyone that all but his immediate family ran for cover. He needed to go. Oh, but if he had chosen a different path with that same energy he would have really been something. Sad.

The Stress Involved in Living A Life of Extravagance Was Not Worth It.
Pablo Escobar's son writes a fair account of his father's life as he saw it. They lived a life of obscene extravagance and the father was popular among the poor people in Colombia due to his financing of soccer fields and housing for the poor. However, a heavy price was to be paid for this life of ill-gotten gains in having to be on guard against his many enemies. This amounted to a heavy strain on his wife, son, and other family members. Juan Pablo Escobar pleaded, to no avail, with his father to stop the war saying this was no way to live. The war with the Cali cartel eventually led to Pablo Escobar's demise and the remaining family members left to shift for themselves in finding another country that would take them in.This was truly a case of his son and other family members paying for the sins of the father. However, in Pablo Escobar's heyday I noticed the son had no problem wearing a watch that cost thousands of dollars and spent a fortune on the latest technological devices in New York that would prove beneficial to his father. As with other despots and gangsters the end result is either a prison or an early grave. The book contains sixteen pages of photographs.

The power of peace!
This book is informative and well written . You can feel the heartbreak of a man who dearly loved his earthly father and yet torn with the reputation and legacy it cost him and his family . I was amazed to learn how gracious Pablo was with the poverty strickened of his home country and while the irony of making the big money the dirty way. I’m impressed to know at least he had a heart and he encouraged soceer games for kids instead of drugs and yet certain countries like my own would rather pill ( drug ) up a child and claim it has a war on drugs. At the end of the tunnel it is only God who sees inside the hearts and makes the judgements . As for Juan, I’m very happy for how he came to peace with the sins of his father and with the sons of his father’s victims. It is forgiveness and the human spirit that keeps us thriving in this world . This book I highly recommend as a must read! You will not be disappointed.

THE SINS OF HIS FATHER…
This is the story of the rise and fall of one of Colombia’s most notorious drug traffickers, Pablo Escobar, as told from the perspective of his son. He gives the reader a bird’s eye view of what life was like for him and his family. It is the inside skinny on the man whose life has been memorialized on film and in books. It is not an enviable life. The story itself is interesting but it could have used a good editor. It is not particularly well- written, as it somewhat disjointed in the telling, and, at times, the Spanish to English translation seems awkward. Still, the author certainly hones in on the fact that narcotics trafficking is not an occupation to which one should aspire. For Pablo Escobar’s son, it was definitely a lesson learned.

very good. All about Pablo Escobar.
I like that this book was actually about Pablo Escobar. It was very detailed and let the mind really visualize how life must have been. Previously we ordered “man hunters” and although a decent read it was not what was advertised. It mostly talks about the two agents and their past. Very little to do with the capture of Pablo Escobar.

A very captivating & intimate narrative
This detailed account from the perspective of Pablo Escobar's son provides a perspective and experiences that no other published account of his life does (though I'm yet to read his wife's account). Highly recommended if you're remotely interested in Pablo Escobar or if you watched Narcos. A lot of details are missed out on TV and the real and true events as told by Juan are even more captivating

Well written, incredibly interesting and hard to put down.
As with other reviewers of this book, I purchased this after being gripped by the Narcos series.I was really interested in what sort of person Pablo’s son would be, having such an obscure upbringing. The book is really well written and Juan really goes into detail in what a passionate, family man Pablo was despite being so violent and power hungry outside of family life.Juan frequently conflicts popular myths about his Father in this book and there are some really interesting additions to anything else I have read before.I recommend this book to anyone who has an interest in Pablo, his son puts his story brilliantly and is clearly a man interested in peace and making the right decisions. A person who’s life could have taken a very different turn had his Father still be alive today.
