Clever way to turn any tripod into a "quick release" tripod for 50mm or smaller binoculars.
Good execution of a clever idea. This binocular mount allows quick release of your binocular and holds it steady on the tripod, regardless whether your tripod has a quick release shoe. Pretty cool. I bought an extra mounting lug and use this on several different binoculars. The system is lightweight and easy to use. I rubbed a little bar soap on the sides of the mount to make mounting and unmounting even faster (the design tolerances are suitably tight for stability, and the soap helps with sliding heavier binos on and off. The soap is not necessary, just a user tweak.....) I use this system with up to 50mm binoculars. My 20x60 pentax binos, which weigh a little over 2 lbs, seem to be a little too heavy, but my 10x50s, 7x50s, 8x36, and 7x35s are all just fine on it. And it comes in a nifty tin box that can be repurposed for other things.

Best Bino Adapter at This Price Point.
For the price it works much better than the standard run of the mill binocular adapter. The quick release is really nice and the main reason I purchased this. It works fairly well but my fat fingers didn't agree with the small release when trying to get the binos released. I had also purchased an Outdoorsmans quick release binocular adapter to compare the two. The quality of construction and finish of the Outdoorsmans was way better but at more than twice the price you'll have to decide for yourself if it's worth the extra money or not. For me it was worth the extra price as the Outdoorsmans seems easier to release with cold hands and when I use this product I'll often have cold hands. I sent the Field Optics Research adapter back and kept the Outdoorsmans. If you are a gram counter the Outdoorsmans weighs about a half an ounce more but I'll personally gladly pack that for the slightly easier to use and more durable product. If I hadn't been comparing the two, I would have kept the Field Optics Research adapter. For the price, it's way better than the standard (non quick release) adapters out there that are typically very similar in price. Mine came a bit damaged with the powder coat coming off and the box dented as well though I can't blame that on Field Optics Research so much as either the shipper or seller. Regardless, Amazon took care of me on the return.I'e added a few photos so you can see the packaging it comes in as well as a side by side view of it and the Outdoorsmans adapter. Sorry for the poor image quality, it was late at night when I was opening things and I was too lazy to improve the lighting.

I am glad i tried it our for myself
Does what it says it does and is easier by far, than the Vortex adapter that i originally had for this. I was nearly not going to buy this becuase of the reviews i read here that said it was sloppy or unstable. I am glad i tried it our for myself. It takes some tweaking but i have it set up very solid and very stable. it doesnt rock or wobble on my Vortex Summit Tripod. But again it took me really looking hard and how to get it set up the Best it can be. Make sure the bolt that you set the base into, is screwed down tightly (Flathead screw driver) and that you have threaded the base of this adapter to the screw-plate that comes with your tripod and fits into your tripod head. If you do those things, it fits very well!

Very impressed and happy.
I have been looking around for a tripod adapter for my binoculars for a bit and decided to give this one a try. I have been using the Vortex adapter and was looking for a quick release option, however, I wasn’t ready to drop a couple hundred on an outdoorsman right now. This is an excellent alternative. It’s stable, quick, and easy to install and use. I use it with my Vortex Viper HDs and I love it!

Great concept, but falls short.
This is one of those products you really want to work. I have a set of Vortex Diamondback 12x50 binoculars that I purchased this item to use with. The quck detach feature proved to work well. However, and unfortunately, the nut fitment to the upright proved to have too much slop. When I would bring the object into view, locked in the tripod, and let go of the binos the object would no longer be in view or at the very bottom of the viewing area due to the movement of the nut on the upright. This forced me to go back to a solid tripod adaptor. I doubt this would be as much of an issue with lighter weight optics, but anything heavier will prove to be problematic.

Good product, worth the money.
Good. Functions as expected. Used to quickly put on and off a tripod when hunting. Allowed the attachment to stay on the binos when you put them back into the harness or pouch. Be aware that it is a little loose when engaged so in heavy wind this will not be an adequate mount to eliminate a shaky view. But usually in heavy wind your tripod will shake anyway, so your call.

Once you fix it, it's great!
I think this thing is gonna be great. But it took a broken spring, a replacement part, and a lot of frustration to figure out what the problem was.Right out of the package, you'll notice that it is almost IMPOSSIBLE to remove the receiver nut. I thought this was a design flaw with the main spring. It isn't. The tolerances of the receiver nut and adapter are so tight that the friction prevents smooth mounting and dismounting. I don't believe the designers accounted for the thickness of the metal plating after manufacturing/machining. I sanded off the finish on the post (of the replacement unit) and oiled it and the receiver nut glides on like butter. It is securely mounted but releases easily by gently depressing the spring. If you have trouble removing the nut at first, try removing all the spring screws and using some penetrating oil. I'm telling you, both of my units were STUCK on there. I took off one star for this inconvenience. Now, I couldn't be happier. I was already using Manfrotto RC2 heads on all my tri and monopods and this is completely compatible with all of them (including one $10 knock-off mount available on Amazon). This is a very clever design and a very affordable quick release mount. I hope it lasts many seasons.
