We love it - safe rawhide that lasts!
This thing is HUGE and my Great Dane absolutely adores it! I purchased 2 chews, a knotted one and this braided one, and I must say that I am very happy. That's saying a lot because I usually hate rawhide -- my dog normally devours most rawhide treats in about 15 minutes and during that time manages to tear off at least one soft wet chunk big enough to choke on and scare the daylights out of me. These are designed in a way those scary moments haven't happened! These chews are truly CHUNKY - the ring is easily over 8 inches diameter and the braid is about 3 inches across, the rawhide is super thick and the whole thing is HEAVY. The braided design makes it so he cannot pull large pieces off to choke on and he has to work very hard to get even small pieces off. Normally if he has to work hard at a chew he will just give up - but not these! He carries it all over the house, plays with it by throwing it in the air (which is very loud on my wood floor), and then settles down for some chewing time -- this chew keeps him entertained for a good hour or more. In this hour of chewing he does NOT devour the rawhide like many other brands we have tried, he just barely manages to get a small 4 inch section gnawed soft then gets tired and takes a nap. In 3 days he has not gotten bored with this routine and we still have 98% of the original chew left! To me - that is a cost effective chew toy! He seems to prefer this braided ring over the knotted type - maybe because the circle design enables him to hold the chew firmly with his paws (see picture) or maybe because of the tasty beef basting. Even more impressive is that the basting looks to be thoroughly embedded into and throughout all of the rawhide not just brushed on the outside; it does not come off on his white legs or my beige carpet - how WONDERFUL is that?!I feel it is important to note that these are all-natural rawhide chews MADE IN THE USA (Illinois). They do say "a product of Brazil" on the outside of the package because they are made from free range, natural grass-fed BRAZILIAN beef hides (without chemicals, preservatives or bleaches). They are also antibiotic, hormone and preservative free. All of their rawhide products are lot-coded for traceability back to the cow. They are a PetAg product (a USA company founded in 1930) which is a division of Borden (another USA company). So in closing: They might seem a bit expensive at first glance, but I have discovered they are high quality, long lasting, and dog entertaining... that to me is worth every penny and if my dog ever makes it through the 2 chews I we already have -- I will happily purchase more!Update - I now have 2 Great Danes, one much younger that can go through these quicker and my older Dane has figured out how to chew them faster. It is still worth the cost as they last longer than any other chew I've ever bought.

Always the go-to chew in our house
I have a very aggressive 5 month old chewer. This scenario is new to me, because my other dogs have never had the "need" to constantly chew. I tried many, many different types of remedies. Bully sticks are wonderful, but expensive, horribly smelly and don't last more than 20 minutes at best. I've tried other brands of rawhide and have been disappointed in the light, airy texture and rapid fire disappearance. I have tried deer antlers. They are wonderful, but don't hold the attention long enough, simply because their seems to be no "reward" to the chewing (antlers are so tough that rarely anything breaks off as they chew). These Chunky Chew Braids are fabulous. Between the two dogs (of course, my 7 year old dog is suddenly interested in chews), these braids last the longest. Actually, any of the Chunky Chew products are solid, heavy and provide hours of chewing if that is what the puppy/dog needs. Very little breaks off from these chews, yet the texture allows satisfaction because they receive gooey goods as they chew, and due to the fabulous construction and quality of them, it is as if the gooey goods are time released. Never too much at once, yet enough to keep them after it.I wish I could give 10 stars... These products have saved my furniture, toes and who knows what else!

Rawhide Ring from Hell!
My dog, (a one year old female Great Dane) eats her way through a normal rawhide bone in under a hour. Not with this one. You'll notice three things with this, and the other Chunky Chews items, right away.First, they're a lot heavier than normal rawhide.Second, they sound and feel more like plastic or wood when you tap on them or hit them.Third, they reek of quality construction.Later you'll also learn that they aren't messy and the dyes don't transfer either. What I mean when I say they aren't messy, is that there always seems to be a dry place to grab this ring by. Unlike a normal rawhide that feels like slime when the dog's leaves it laying somewhere and you need to move it.I've tried, (I should rephrase that to "my dog has tried") all the different flavors and shapes of rawhide they offer from Chunky Chews, and the ring, in either flavor, is the longest lasting and best value for the $. The other shapes are also long lasting and made very well, but they don't have the durability of this shaped toy. And considering it only costs a couple dollars more than the other shapes it's well worth the extra 2-3 $.If your dog has anything less than a chainsaw far a mouth, this toy will last.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B002N4ID5K/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_1This item is good.. I supervise my two dogs while using any rawhide product. It last a very long time. Much cheaper the bully sticks. I know they aren't the same thing! Bully sticks are extremely expensive. The only last my 2 dogs ten minutes. I have a rough collie 90lbs. and a runt labrador at 70lbs. My 'Vet told me if I were going to give my dogs rawhide braided is the best. The Lab is the reason I purchase these.. My previous dogs never needed to be pacified with rawhide or anything other than butcher bones. The Collie only needs one to be fair. This Labrador is very choosy as to what he chews on. I watch him closely. He goes for cat toys, shoes, soft plastic. He has never gone for cell phones, remote controls, wires, wood, rocks, bluetooth headsets and no longer a counter surfer. I am thankful he doesn't chew every thing. I only wish he liked any of his toys. Thanks Again
