I'm not too familiar but always wanted to try after drinking a milk tea drink from a cafe that used butterfly pea powder. This butterfly pea extract does what it promises, expected in terms of quality. The flavor is mild and earthy, so it blends well into drinks without overpowering them. When mixed with soda or citrus, it shifts from blue to purple, which makes it fun to do with kids as a science lesson. Using simple lemon lime soda, I let my daughter put drops of pop in with her little toy science beaker as a little experiment. She loved controlling and seeing the color change. According to the retail container, it's Halal, GMP, and MeSTI certified, and it appears the vendor is based in Malaysia (text on the container), which makes sense? It's a major source for butterfly pea flower powder. For the small size it's a little bit pricey and I have not observed any real health benefits yet.

A curious item made from butterfly pea flowers from Malaysia. I can't imagine the amount of labor required to harvest the 5kg of flowers needed to make this small cylinder. Has some interesting health benefits listed, though I mainly got this because I was curious about the flavor. Made a simple cup of lemonade and dropped in a small spoonful of this and it really did turn the lemonade a bright blue just like the product photos. Also tried a tiny bit of it directly from the container and while I can't say I hate it, I didn't really like it either. It's a unique taste. Though if you use this in a strongly flavored beverage like lemonade or some other food, it's a lot less noticeable. Not a whole lot in this container, only 200g, but a little bit goes a long way. This would probably be great for cakes without having to resort to artificial colors. Real natural sources of blue coloring are quite rare, most things contain a bit of red color, even blueberries, which actually turn purple when crushed and used to add color to other foods.

I was really looking forward to trying this. It arrived quickly. BUT - I can't get the bottle open. The cap will not break away from the ring that is supposed to stay around the opening. It just keeps twisting around and around. I'm afraid to manhandle it since it is a blue, liquid concentrate inside - don't what to make a mess and turn everything blue.

Product is as advertised! Taste is good. I just might order this again very soon!

This is some good butterfly pea powder. Just mixed some into my yerba mate latte & sure enough, it turned it a real pretty blue color. Just stirred it a bit with my straw & it dissolved quick & easy, leaving no sludge in the bottom. I don’t really sense much of a change in taste...maybe it’s a wee bit more earthy. Loving it! The powder comes in a bag, sealed inside of a screwtop tub. The powder’s purple color shown in the product pictures is a perfect match to what I received. The product label is difficult to read (white text on pink), but after I got my good glasses on, it seems to match what is shown in the pics. The only bummer is that while it does include a batch number & expiration date stamped on the label, it smudged & only the year 2027 is readable. I like that it's only one ingredient with no additives like sugar or anything. I do wish it was certified organic, though...it is not. I appreciate that it’s made by these fine folks in Malaysia. I took a look at their website & am impressed with their transparency (& facilities). All in all, I’m pretty happy with this butterfly pea powder & am looking forward to experimenting more with it.

This organic butterfly pea powder is so much fun! I mainly got it for baking and had been eyeing it for quite a while, but I couldn’t justify the price since I’d never used it before. Totally worth it. We just tried it out by making a lime drink, and it was honestly magical. I mixed a little of the powder into water with some liquid sucralose, and it turned a lovely blue. Then I added lime juice, and wow. The color change was immediate and dramatic, shifting to a vivid purple. When I added a bit more lime (because I wasn’t generous enough the first time), it changed again to a different shade of purple. Super cool. I can already see this being amazing in all kinds of drinks and desserts. It mixed in so easily I’m planning to try it with chocolate next and maybe use it in cupcakes for my partner to bring to the office. It’s going to be a hit. If you’re into natural food coloring, dramatic transformations, or just want something fun to experiment with, this powder is a total win.
