It's OK.
This cable gets the intended job done just fine. It's well made and appears to be durable enough to last a long time. I purchased this cable to use with my Sony MDR-1AM2 headphones, which come with a stock cable which is about 4.5 feet in length, which is fine if I'm lying in bed listening to music on my laptop. I was looking for a cable of about 7 feet in length to be able to use my Sony headphones at my desk if I decide to at some point, and I've discovered that my options are pretty slim. This cable is 10 feet in length, a bit longer than I need. I normally contact Periapt for my cable needs and they custom make mine to length, color and connector requirements needed but I didn't wish to drop $80 on a cable for these cans. This cable will be fine for my needs.

Braided cord is noisy.
The cable works as described for my Sony headphones and clicks in nicely. Sound quality seems fine. My only concern with using this cable and why it gets 4 stars is because of the braided cord.- When the braided cord rubs against things it transfers the vibration through to my headphones housing and sounds like a chainsaw running at low rpms. It is distractingly loud. This means anytime you turn your head or move causing the cord rub against anything (including itself) the "chainsaw" fires up.It is still a good solution for the awkward headphone situation Sony has going on, just wish the cord had a smooth sheathing.

High quality replacement cable for the MDR-1A headphones.
Very nice, high quality headphone cable. I bought this to have an additional, longer cable to use for my MDR-1A headphones at home without having to take the other cable out of the case every time I want to use the headphones. Since the MDR-1A headphones require a very specific, low profile connector at the end of the 1/8" jack that plug into the headphones themselves, I was glad to find this one here on Amazon. At about 15', the cable is a great length to allow me to plug into my headphone amplifier and sit back and listen to music or watch something on my computer without feeling too tethered (I am not a fan of the quality of wireless headphones yet). The cable is nice and flexible, yet seems quite strong wrapped in the braided nylon sheathing. It is also lightweight enough not to pull too much on the headphones themselves. The gold plated connectors seat firmly in both the headphones and plugged into either my phone or headphone amp. The sound quality is at least as good as with the OEM cable. Although I have yet to use it, the fact that the cable comes with a detachable 1/8" to 1/4" adaptor that I can use with my AV receiver is a great plus. The only downside is that because of the threads for the 1/4" adaptor, the cable doesn't quite fit in my iPhone headphone jack with the case on - something to keep in mind if you're planning to use this with a phone. Since I use mine almost exclusively at home, this is less of a worry for me. All of this for under $20 is really a deal - I like this one better than the OEM cable.

Works... but terrible feedback noise from physical contact with the braided cord
First, the cable works just fine and connects with my MDR-1am2 headphones.Unfortunately (and as others have already stated), the braided cord introduces a terrible feedback noise through the headphones when I move at all. Even if I just barely move my head I'll hear the "grinding" sound from any parts of the cable rubbing against anything at my desk (me included). As someone that uses three monitors my head is moving back and forth constantly. That makes the cable almost unusable for me.I'm looking for a replacement now.

Works great with Sony MDR headphones
Wish I found these a while ago. This cord is one of the few that fit Sony MDR headphones. Finding a cord that goes from the large 1/4 jack to a 1/8 aka 3.5mm and fits into the recessed jack on my Sony MDR-1AM2 was difficult until now. Nice ~8ft cord. Not sure why others had difficulty, it's a simple part that works. Highly recommended and pictures attached.

Good
Fits MDR-1AM2 perfectly. Cord is slightly cheap feeling but seems sturdy. Not a lot of options for these headphones out there, if you need a longer cable for desktop use it works just as well as the stock cable.

Quality upgrade cable for Sony MDR-1ABT headphones.
Replacement for the original cable that was too short on my Sony MDR-1ABT headphones. Sound quality is excellent, I really like the look and feel of this cable the color is dark brown and braided. I use this cable with my MDR-1ABT headphones and Yamaha R-N602 (silver) receiver when I want more power than the headphones can deliver wirelessly using bluetooth. Happy with this purchase and speedy delivery.

Poorly designed, noisy, defective
Summary: Not recommended. Braided cable is super noisy and arrived with a defect that got worse over time.Pros:- Plug fits snugly into my Sony MDR-1A headphones, which is good since the headphone jack is recessed into the plastic shell of the headphones, preventing most other standard 3.5mm audio jack connectors from fitting in, hence the small plastic cylinder "bump" at the base of the metal connector- At a length of 3 meters, it's long enough to allow me to move around my room without running out of slackCons:- The braided design is awful. Like some other reviewers have noted, the cable loudly scratches against any surface, including my shoulder. When this happens, I hear the loud scratching amplified into my headphones like a doctor's stethoscope.- My cable arrived with a strange defect (bump/kink) about one meter from the 3.5mm jack. Initially there was no concern, but everyday use eventually caused the wires inside the insulation to erupt through both the insulation and the braided cord (see picture). I am now expecting the product to fail imminently, after only 8 months of normal use.
