Great refenence tool
I do allot of off-roading in Utah and this atlas is excellent tool for planning trips off-road. Also for sliding it under the front seat when overlanding as a big picture tool and backup. This is my second, I literally wore the first one out. I always use navigation devices (GPS/Phone Apps) as my main navigation tool but nothing beats a map when you have to zoom out and consider other route options and it's smart to have in case anything dies electronically.

The best maps
The map books from Benchmark Maps are the best that I have ever owned. I have their maps for many of the western U.S. states. The maps are incredibly detailed, and the printing quality is superb. I purchased several of them, and the package was damaged by the Post Office and some of the maps were missing. Benchmark Maps replaced the missing maps promptly. They are indispensable for exploring the backroads of your state.

Great info but pages very thin and tear easily
The info is up to date and comprehensive, but the paper quality is very poor, and the Atlas unlikely to survive a road trip intact.

Benchmark Maps for 4x4 Offroad Explorer
I originally had an old Benchmark Maps 2004 edition of the "Utah Road & Recreation Atlas" that I had used for many years for off-road navigation (this was way before the advent of online maps). Knowing that, in the event my electronic GAIAGPS online maps became inaccessible and unavailable, I needed paper "backup" maps to safely get me home. A couple of weeks ago while doing some on-location research, I had stopped in to see the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) folks to purchase some detailed hiking topographic maps. While browsing the store, I noticed they were also using the Benchmark Maps Road & Recreation Atlas series of maps as their reference material. I was already familiar with the Benchmark Map publisher, so I figured if these maps were good enough for the BLM, they would be good enough for me, too. Originally, I had starting looking at a different publisher of road and recreation topographic map books, but I'm glad I went with the updated Arizona, Nevada and Utah Benchmark Maps series. Hands down, the the Benchmark Maps Road & Recreation Atlas maps are the ones to buy.

Well done
Most of us buy these books to fill a need. And that is pretty much where I was at.. I was preparing for my summer trips out west to Colorado and Utah, etc, and while reviewing my 4x4 books, I saw this one mentioned.. I actually wanted both the Colorado and the Utah, but, the Colorado map was already five years old, so I expect a newer edition soon, meaning, I only bought the Utah because it was a new edition... Later, when the Colorado is updated, I will get it as well... As for the map book, it really is nice. There are some things that I would like to have seen, like the contour lines, like the competition has, but, I suppose I will get use to it.. That said, in just playing with it here at home, I think it is going to be really nice... It will be a great supplement to my 4x4 off road books...I can recommend it.... Money well spent.

Benchmark atlases have more detail than the Delorme atlases
We were directed to the Benchmark atlases by Stan Paher ( "stan paher nevada ghost towns" ), an treasure trove of information on Nevada ghost towns. In addition to his many books, he was also a contributing editor to the Nevada Benchmark Atlas, which includes many ghost towns and back roads. This atlas, along with his guide books, were an inspiration to go hunting ghost towns during the Great Covid Shutdown.Based on that experience, we've also bought several of the Benchmark recreation maps of the west.

Needs an update
This book is not up to date for RV campgrounds. Roads and parks haven't changed but RV campgrounds have. Names, numbers and amenities are outdated.
