I’m on year 7 with this crate
When I originally purchased this crate I was disappointed bc it was covered in rust, the whole thing. I’m guessing it was coated by something bc after wiping it down with rubbing alcohol, it was fine. I contacted the company bc of this and they had great customer service. I’ve since had this thing for 7 years and it still is in great shape. My gsd, Loki, had horrible anxiety and he would pop the welds off the regular crates and pry himself thru the bars. This crate stopped that instantly and he quit tearing up his face and household items, the anxiety is no long an issue, and Loki will even hang out in this crate without needing to be in it. It’s a solid buy for pups that have behavioral issues and if I ever need another one, this is the one I would get.

Lion cage yes- locks no
Update- after 2 weeks my pup learned how to escape. The locks started out as a tight fit but after two weeks of use became loose and easy to turn. Also the coating of flaming off. :(We tried this out at the recommendation of a dog behavioralist at our local humane shelter. We were at our wits end. Our Anatolian shepherd is 55 pounds and 7 months old. He’s a beast! He literally destroyed the first brand new wire crate in days, and was able to “hop” the second crate around the house, knocking everything down and pulling in table cloths/curtains etc to shred in his path. So far he has not been able to destroy or move this crate around! The bars are very sturdy and the locks are secure. We did wrap a couple zip ties at the top just to be sure bc there was a small gap we didn’t trust. Fairly easy to put together. We did not put the rollers on. Dog owners for the win! It’s expensive but worth it for peace knowing he can’t break it or move it while we’re gone.

Really?
Getting it out of the box, I was very happy. The metal is much sturdier than a normal wire cage (obviously). But for the price I paid I can’t even get a product that lines up flush? There’s damage to it, gaps, misalignments, etc. very disappointing. I got this for a trouble German shepherd of mine that can chew her way through traditional wire cages. But I’m left with a sour taste in my mouth and lost money. Look, I don’t believe it’s very difficult to make a product like this and have it be straight and flush. I bought this to possibly save time, but I’m just going to make one out of my own steel probably and weld it together. I would not recommend this product due to potential quality issues at the price they charge. To be honest, I don’t even care about the damage to the paint surfaces. I don’t care WHAT this crate looks like, I just wish it would be flush and not be compromised to her potentially getting out, given their intelligence and strength. If it was made to be as it was designed, it would be a fabulous product for a fair price.

Very Nice heavy duty dog cage.
This is a very nice, heavy built cage. After reading some reviews, I was concerned that it would be real lightweight material (like curtain rods). Well it is not. I do not know what gauge of steel it is, it is heavy enough to keep my Doberman in her cage. She tried to break out the first day, and all she did was chip the paint. On the wire style, she could just bite the wire and make a hole to get out. But she doesn't even try to get out of this Smithbuilt. Some reviews talked of shipping damage, mine arrived early with no damage. It is easy to set up, and I am very happy with this purchase. It comes with a wire floor and a solid metal pan for underneath. I put the pan down so my girl had a solid surface, so that is an option as well. My only negative would be the latches are not the best design, but as I said, my Doberman doesn't even try to get out of this one. If you want a heavy duty, well built dog cage, you can't beat this one for the price.

Smith built dog crate
Smith built dog cage is awesome. The create seems to be strong and does what it says. Only issues was one of the screw holes didn't line up and the wheels are pretty cheap and the wheel stops are not to good. The create was easy to assemble and it is very easy to clean. The bottom pan can be switched to the top if your worried about your pet being on the gated surface however my puppy doesn't seem to mind the gate even with a blanket on one side he still lays on both. It's a good buy for the price.

Best Cage Ive ever purchases
I have bought my Pit Bull about 7 cages over the last 10 years. Prior to this one that last cage I bought he was broken within hours of us setting it up. 1st and foremost my dog literally loves this cage. He wants to go into it on his own. Which he has never ever done . 2nd he tried to break out of it but wasn't able to compromise the bars so he gave up. Occasionally he tries again but I guess he remembers it wont work. It is easy to clean the board at the bottom slides out. A nice space for a medium large dog to feel comfy . My dog has no clue the top opens and if you have a dog who is a professional escape artist make sure you don't let him know or he will try and get out from the top. My dog doesn't know the top opens. I learned that particular lesson with the last cage. The only thing " bad " that happen is on of the silver thingies that lock the cage bent but, i bent it back .

Compromised safety for pups
This product was not packed well. I opened the box to find it scratched up then putting it together the holes did not like up because the bars were bent. I went ahead put it together then realized the safety is compromised for small pups allowing their paws to slip through the cracks and twist or break a leg. The crack is from the bent bars causing the create to not be squared up correctly.
