I Met Judge Judy and She Signed My Book!
This book is a great buy. Judy reveals great advice about relationships and finance in this book and is a a great read for both men and women. On a side note, back in September 2013, I went to a Judge Judy interview with Katie Couric at the 92y Center in Manhattan, New York. After the "show" Judy wanted to meet me because I was the only one to bring her book to the show. She met with me, signed my book and took a picture with me and wished me luck on law school. She was very gracious and I love her more than I ever did before. Get this book if you are struggling to get any solid advice any where else.

Sound advice with some humor thrown in.
I have been watching Judge Judy for 13 of the 16 years it's been on the air. So many people just say that the Judge is a witch and ask how I can watch the show. I think if they would watch the show and pay attention to her words and her reactions to the liars, they would understand she's a realist that doesn't put up with bs. That's why I took on this book for my reading pleasure. She offers a powerful and experienced point of view on the real scenarios of couples nowadays. She has a sense of humor that many don't even know about and it shows through in her writing. A fantastic book with great advice that I recommend to the many "unmarried, living-together" couples.

Judge Judy's wisdom
I have enjoyed Judge Judy's TV show. The reason I don't give this book a 5 star rating is that it is too liberal for my way of thinking and living. I do not agree with living together without the benefit of marriage. I know it is very common today, but I still believe it is wrong. I believe that for centuries people have dated, learned their mates well enough to have a great marriage, and did marry before living together. Now, I am not so naive that I would think that everyone makes the best choice of mate by dating only and not living together. But, as Judy does mention quite a few times in the book, without that 'piece of paper' called a Marriage License, the parties are not protected under the laws of the land. So, it is not beneficial to simply live together. She DOES, however, say that IF you do live together before marriage, as a test period not to exceed one year, there are certain legal papers that should be drawn up in order to afford some amount of legal protection in event of break up, etc. Also, there are certain things that should be put in writing, legally binding or not, that can guide you in a break up.I would recommend this book. It is good reading, and has some really great info in it. I understand that not everyone agrees with me, and that is fine. I respect other's beliefs and ideas, and I would trust they will do the same for me.

Spend a $ & save $$$$$$$ by not making a life together mistake. Love doesn't have to bankrupt you.
I bought this used & I learned SO much important life lessons. It could cost one literally tens of thousands of $$$ if you make a "LIVING TOGETHER MISTAKE". Read this quick entertaining book & learn what you need to know before taking the jump off the bridge. If you don't want to marry @ least do it the SMART WAY. Judge Judy or J.J. as her devoted fans refer to her can teach while making you laugh.

I give advice on Yahoo and Love this Book...
I really connected with your advice Judge Judy because I say all the same things you do! In fact, I watch your show everyday and in the start of the show I tell my husband pretty much how you'll go in judgment. When people use 'basically', 'pretty much' and your favorite word 'like' I talk to the tv out loud with what your going to say! LOL My husband cracks up.I give advice on Marriage & Divorce Section on Yahoo Answers under no1advice. I use your books if I need reference. Your thinking is exactly like mine. I am no nonsense in my advice. I teach people when they marry a person you get a Package Deal. You marry that person's history and all that comes with it. I teach them the Clint Eastwood approach in dating. Know the good the bad & ugly before you walk down the isle. But you taught me a lot more in the legal sense. I advise people to read your book!God bless you Judy. God treated us to such a wonderful and smart person just knowing you. Judy you have helped enhance many lives by guiding us mentally & spiritually!!

Missed the Mark
While I appreciate the "legal" suggestions, I thought Judge Judy was a little too "politically correct" in providing legal advice but not encouraging the commitment of marriage. Most of the contributors' submissions - which were the basis for her book - were geared toward why the contributors would not live together again without the benefit of marriage, and yet Judy's comments seem to me to be geared toward the inevitable breakup of the shack-up. Why not use the submissions to encourage readers to abstain from cohabitating before marriage?Since Judy suggests a trial period prior to marriage, she should provide statistics that show that fewer marriages end in divorce as a result of the trial period. I bet the stats will instead show less commitment, as many (or more) divorces, more children shuffled from home to home, less stability, and more disease.Come on, Judge Judy, take a stand that favors family and honors commitment.

Good Advice
I loved this book! If you are a Judge Judy fan and watch her daily you would really enjoy this book. It gives you good advice about legal situations we get ourself in. It is actually about people who lived a certain way and then needed advice when their relationship changed. As an older woman I would definitely take Judge Judy's advice in my everyday living, and in my relationships. The book is very easy reading and a little humor at times. She even tells you about some of her situations. I would recommend this book!

Should be recommended reading in Life Skills class!
Set aside what you feel about the well known reality tv judge.. if young women studied this book, they’d learn to value themselves and also that our choices bear consequences either good or bad.
