Essential Baking Company Organic Artisan Sourdough Bread, 18.2 Ounce (Pack of 3)

This is very good bread and nice to have on hand when I need it. It’s packed well and doesn’t need to be refrigerated and has a long expiration date. Perfect.

Looked nice when arrived but very hard, followed directions, but too hard and not worth the price

as a born and raised native of SF 86+ years ago i can say this sourdough is NOT sourdough.. decent bread, maybe so.. san francisco sourdough french bread has a taste and texture all its own, this item, while decent bread has a nice texture and if baked at 350 for a few minutes has good crust but, sadly, comes no where near to real sourdough french bread.. larraburu french was the best but they were sued into oblivion many years ago due to being self insured when, i was told, a driver had a traffic collision.. bye bye the best.. next in line was pisano where i would buy a loaf from the day old shelf in their bakery near 3rd and army streets still warm from the oven.. can not find any mention of them on the 'net now.. third surviving is boudin which still makes great sourdough but shipping from SF doubles the price to near $90 for a few round loaves..again, this stuff, while very planet friendly they tell me, is not sourdough.. i wish it were..EDIT: baked loaf #2, put half in a plastic bag in the refrigerator overnight, seems like the sourdough taste returns, at least a little bit.. maybe allowing it to ferment improves the taste..

I like that they are individually wrapped. I also liked that it was convenient to order online and have it brought to me. That being said, the bread is extremely dense and heavy like it has no air in it at all, which is strange for a sourdough. For $25 the 3 loaves are quite small. If the quality was great I wouldn’t mind so much but it’s not. If it could be returned I probably wouldn’t mind consider it due to the fact that one of the 3 loaves has a strange white film on it that doesn’t look like flour and there are many reviews complaining of mold issues (I failed to read them prior to ordering, my bad!) cooking instructions are vague as well. No time given, just cook till done. That may not work for everyone.

Well packaged and has a long shelf life. Great to have on hand when the weather is an issue.Love sourdough bread as it is so easy to digest. Thanks Amazon for carrying this item at a competitive price.

The only issue with this bread is that it is too good, so we have a hard time controlling our portions. We live in the middle of the Pacific Ocean in a place where sour dough bread is not possible to purchase. I thought I would give this a try. I am so glad I did. I will buying more for sure, and probably going to have to hide it from my husband or he will eat the entire loaf by himself in on sitting because it just tastes so good!
