Crosman Optimus CO8M22X (.22) Air Rifle with Scope
I think this Crosman Optimus air rifle is a real honey for the money. For just over a hundred dollars it is very nicely made and the fit and finish on mine were perfect right out of the box. For an air rifle it has quite a bit of power behind it. It sent a round of Crosman .22 Ultra Mag clear through a piece of 3/4" pine board at a distance of about 10-feet. When fired it has a satisfying kickback and bang, at least for an air gun, so much so that I need wear hearing protection when firing it in the indoor range I have set up in my basement or my ears will be ringing, because it's at least as loud, if not louder, than my Porter Cable FR350 framing nailer is. The stock is decently made from solid wood and has a nice low-sheen satin finish. A couple of coats of Trewax clear paste wax has made it look even better. The break barrel mechanism works smoothly and really isn't that difficult to operate. The trigger takes a little getting used to though in order squeeze it smoothly without jerking the rifle because it's stiff and has a lot of travel. Thankfully though, the trigger pull is adjustable. I backed the adjustment screw out [counterclockwise] about 1-1/2 turns and along with a couple of drops of RWS Spring Oil on the triggers pivot points, it made the trigger pull much lighter and more predictable than the factory setting. The trigger safety lever is a nice design. It holds positively when set and is easy to operate with your trigger finger. The CenterPoint scope is decently made as well and was easy to install. I didn't have any issues with it other than it took a bit of fiddling to get it zeroed in. Being that this is a spring piston air rifle, just be sure to always use the "Artillery Hold" when shooting it or you really won't be able to hit anything accurately, even at close range. Overall, considering what I paid for it, I'm pretty impressed with this air rifle and would have no problem recommending it.BTW: I was having a problem with the scope slipping back in its mounts over time from the recoil of firing the rifle. I was able to resolve the issue by removing the factory padding inside the upper half of the clamps and cleaning off the adhesive with acetone. I then lined the inner surface of the clamps with some old style cloth electrical friction tape and also put a dab of Vibratite thread locker on each of the clamp screws. That was several months ago and I have fired it many times since then and the scope has held securely with no slipping.

Well worth the money
I bought 3 of these optimus. 2 in .22 and one .177 ..177 speed with crossman 10.5 grain pellets in the 1250 card board box. 768.769.770. 767. Not in order fired. Will group easy 1/2 inch. The first .22 with crossman premier domed pellets 14.3 . Speed #1 .22 cal. Not in order. 735. 736 . 737. 738. And will group under .1/2No#2..22 cal. Same pellets. 712.713.714 711. All three super consistant fps all three are great shooters. Did did a triggerJob and used i believe a small metric nut that measured 8 milimeters by 2 1/2 thick mmHad to drill out the screw hole in the nut itself with a 13/64 drill bit to fit the trigger pin orsear. After trigger job about 10 minutes after removeing the action . No creep. Maybe 1/4 or less. Trigger pull now . 2 1/2 . 2 1/2 and one 3 evenLook on you tube for crossman trigger job. One older fella had the best vid. Great pellet guns with the trigger job. Oh also the scope that comes with it. The only way to get the blur out is remove the front beauty ring. Rest the scope and the the front lens in and out to get rid of the blur. Grab the threads that exposed after removing the front ring and turn until u see clear. Youtube crossman trigger fix..... P>S do not use bigger that 8 millimeters tall .nut , gun could go off by itself, do it at your own risk.after hundreds of shots the gun is shooting pretty good, 12 bull target, 2 center bulls were sight in, I numbered them as I shot, it can put tiny groups and then looser, these bulls are 1 1/4 inch for the black part, all of them were pretty fair, did this over 3 days, morning noon and night to see if the gun shot different under light condition's changingWell it's 8-9-18 been shooting the last week or so. Shot about 500 pellets. Crossmans domed shot really good. Cheapest two. Any way changed to a 3x9 20 dollar scope got from Amazon few months ago. At 15 yards even with 5 to 8 mile a hour winds keeps a tiny group. I will attach a pic with Dime along side. Keep in mind a dime measures 3/4 of a inch. Some time cut the same hole but the one I and posting is about average . To cheap to change targets so target has extra holes near the group. Bulls eye wasn't touched. Still don't care for break barrels. Kicking buggers normally don't shoot this well either. I have 5 crossmans co2 custom 22 inch barrels. Think they call them 2240. Tiny mods. Cut power spring about I ring. Has adjustable tri. Cut that spring about 1/4 I think. To 2 pounds pull. These will kill fly's at 15 yards. Always group near quarter inch. 6 X 24 scopes. Use 12 power. About $120.00 order. Got one the other day. July 4 to sale 77 bucks shipped to house. Shoulder stock 22 inch. Co2. A steal.
