We bought our  All-Clad copper-core cookware set  from Williams Sonoma, and I wanted to add a matching double boiler to the set. I found the best price on Amazon and made the purchase. The double boiler matches my set perfectly.The All-Clad copper-core double boiler, made in the USA, weighs 6 lb 11 oz when fully assembled and empty. The box contains a 2-quart sauce pot, dishwasher safe porcelain insert with stainless steel handle, and two stainless steel lids. The insert lid is slightly smaller than the sauce pot requires, so it's nice this set comes with two. Although, it would have been nicer if the double boiler was designed to work with one lid.The sauce pot, identical to the one included in the set, is constructed copper sandwiched between stainless steel resulting in a durable pot with even heat distribution. Attached to the pot with rivets is a thick stainless steel handle. The heavy porcelain insert is about 5/8 inch thick and also has a riveted stainless steel handle attached to the bowl with a clamped band of stainless steel. The lids are made of thinner stainless steel with a riveted sturdy handle in the center.All in all, the All-Clad copper-core porcelain double boiler is a nice addition to our copper-core cookware set. It's not a commonly used piece, so I like that I can use the sauce pot separately. However, when I do need a double boiler this one gets the job done. If you're looking for a double boiler to match your copper-core set or if you just want a quality double boiler, look no further. The lid fits the pot, not the insert. It is not even the one shown in the product photos. The metal pot and porcelain insert seemed to be two separate items packed into the box made ONLY for the porcelain insert (based on the diagram on the All-Clad box), and they were jammed in there together.As someone with an extensive All-Clad collection, I already HAVE the lid shown in the photo, so I can use that for now. However, I want the lid they should have sent me, and should not have to deal with this for a $300 purchase. Especially since I (and my relatives) have never needed to deal with All-Clad’s customer service department before now after at least 2 decades.Anyone buying this set beware, unless you contact the company before hand or they update this product, you will most likely have this same issue.

I purchased this so i can make Hollandaise sauce for my husband who loves eggs Benedict. What a great job the porcelain does. i am sure it will be great for melting chocolate also.The Copper Core line is pricey, but such good quality - they are surely meant to last a lifetime!

This pot is the highest quality cookware I have ever owned. I love that the lid fits the pot and the double boiler. I've used the double boiler to make chocolate dipped strawberries and herbal salves. It feels sturdy and heavy in your hand, the only tip I would give is to rub the exposed copper ring with lemon juice or another acid to keep it looking its best.

Have had experience with this Mfr, always been good. Here is the rub. The pictures shown here appear to have a little copper accent on the top or the ceramic insert, not on mine. The lid that comes with it fits the saucepan, DOES NOT fit the ceramic insert, what is the deal with that???????? Pictures advertised to get someone to drop this kind of money show a perfect fit...not the case. I will contact All Clad and let them know of the discrepancy when selling on Amazon, seems that it is too easy to get duped when buying from here.

I am willing to pay extra for products made in the USA and this pot is listed as Made in the USA but, when it arrived, the insert was made in China. I feel mislead. There are many double boiler sets made in China, many under $40, so if I’m going to pay $300 for a double boiler it had better be made in the USA as listed. This set is being returned tomorrow!

This item is smaller than anticipated. The lid which is larger that the porcelain double boiler insert does not sit well on it. I am not happy with this purchase..

Arrived safely in well packed box. As i am baking more with items that require controlled melting i am looking forward to using the porcelain insert. The only thing I found disappointing was the porcelain insert was made in China instead of the US or other.
