Excellent Phonics System
I know this is a workbook, but it is really the beginning of a phonics/reading system. You start with the alphabet, then progress down the line in a specific sequence until your child is reading! Love it. Found out about Modern Curriculum Press from a very experienced reading teacher. Glad the organization and curriculum is already there, already proven to work.We tried Hooked on Phonics and my daughter yawned (age 4). Good thing I only checked it out from our local library. With all the colorful pages, she gets energized about MCP and can't wait to work on her pages! Hooray. Highly recommend. She knows almost all the alphabet by sight, now we need to work on the sounds. When we finish this workbook, I've already bought the next levels A & B.I am mixing in Scholastic phonic activities and Bill Martin activities to reinforce lessons. Highly recommend those too. This workbook came perfectly packaged and in great condition. Shipping was fast. All around, a good transaction.

Modern Curriculum Press Phonics level K
It is just what I need for supplemental phonics learning (consonants/vowels) for my kindergarteners. Whatever 'Letter Of The Week' the students are learning, I make a homework packet around that specific letter. The work pages add extra practice at home (letter writing & picture/sound practice; the work pages are routine enough for the kinders to figure out what to do by themselves yet varied enough to keep them interested and seek parent support if needed (I want parent involvement!). Additionally, there are little booklets that can be torn out for students to read in class or sent home for practice,as well as some poem pages. There are excellent practice pages for the vowels a,e,i, o, u. I have been using this book for several years & as homework supplemental practice, it can't be beat.

Serves its purpose
We are using this book as a companion to "The Ordinary Parent's Guide to Teaching Reading." We'll do the reading lesson in the latter, then practice the corresponding letters in this workbook. It is a little on the easy side, but really helps to drive the point home. Initially I felt this was rather pricey for a workbook, but I'm glad we bought it.

Good Phonics Book
This is a good beginning level phonics books that teachers the letter sounds (as one would expect from phonics) Our daughter who was schooling at home at the time loved doing the pages in this book. She got to practice writing letters and the colorful pictures kept her attention.

Great Begining Sounds Introduction
Modern Curriculum Press Phonics, Level KI used this book years ago when my older children were learning to read and write in a Montessori school and now have found it again to work with my homeschoolers. The pictures have been updated and there are more parent enrichment ideas at the bottom of most pages. Even if you are not using a total phonics approach this book is helpful in recognizing, writing, and reinforcing letter sounds. I would highly recommend this book.

Very good intro, review and practice book
Very good intro, review and practice book. Check the level. I think all levels are good, but the first two - or at least the first one - seems to be a bit unnecessary. I would start with B or C for a kindergartener.

feel been cheated
it says clean book, but I got the book which has all written from the first page to the last page. I was very mad at the lying!

Excellent Learning Tool
My four-year-old is flying through this book (I thought it would be quite challenging for him). It is harder than anything he has done up to this point, but he loves it and wants to keep doing his lessons. Even when I have other things to accomplish, he can do it with only a little supervision. He knows so many letters and their sounds now. Heartily recommend.
