Roscoe Riley Rules #2: Never Swipe a Bully's Bear

High interest series for younger boys and great for struggling readers
My kiddo is a struggling reader and, consequently, does not enjoy reading very much. Getting him to even read with me for his reading log is a struggle. But, he LOVES the Roscoe Riley books. In fact, we read the entire first book in two nights. He kept asking for "just one more chapter". And he asked to take the book to school to read to his teacher during his VIP week.He trips on a few words, but loves the story and we have a great time laughing together. Has been great for helping him practice oral reading with expression and reading for context, two things he is working on at school. The chapters are short enough to seem manageable and the stories remind him of people he knows. A great series for younger boys...there aren't many good ones for them! Highly recommended by my kiddo and me!

Great series for young readers
I bought the first three Roscoe Riley books for my 8-year old daughter. We took turns reading them to each other and she was able to read most of the words herself, which was a great confidence-booster. The stories were very funny (we laughed out loud A LOT!) and there was always a life lesson to learn. As a parent, I liked the stories a bit more than the Junie B. Jones books (which is a great series, don't get me wrong!) because Roscoe was a little less "fresh" than Junie B. We can't wait to read more!!!

Great book for beginning readers
Roscoe Riley is one of those little boys who trouble just follows. The storyline is funny with great illustrations, and has a nice lesson about jumping to conclusions and unintended consequences. I'd say this book is perfect for beginning or reluctant readers, both boys and girls. It's nice to have a book that makes kids giggle, without being mean. He's definitely a character children can relate to, and I (as well as my daughter) recommend the whole series.

Great life lessons!
Great series for teaching young kids about life lessons. My 8 year old son enjoys this series and it has lead to some great life skills conversations. This is a great conversation starter for you and your little one.

Great starter book
My son loves this series. It is a great for those beginning to read chapter books. Chapters are short and he enjoys the sense of accomplishment when he finishes. We have enjoyed reading several in the series and have begun to recognize the similar structure the author uses with each book which is helping my son develop his writing as well.Storyline begins with Roscoe in time-out, and then the bulk of the story explaining how he got there.i like the hidden lesson within the story. My son enjoys reading them and I would recommend them.

Roscoe Rules!
This book is as funny as the first and my daughter loved it. She has to do reading logs every night for school and we are going through Roscoes right now just to see what outrageous thing he can come up with next. My daughter is in 3rd grade and has some difficulty in reading, therefore, she likes Roscoe as they are not too hard but difficult enough to challenge her. FUNNY!

Excellent!
I read Rules #1 with my girls and they absolutely loved it. We were able to download #2 two days later. It's a definite fast read and I really enjoy reading the books. No harsh words which I loved! And my girls laughed and laughed because I think they saw themselves in some of Roscoe's antics. I am looking forward to #3!
