I've used this product roughly a year in a commercial kitchen, almost every day several times a day. I've used it to check cooler temperatures, hot cooked items, and I even use it to check the temperature of the hot oil in our fryers, which are around 350F. It is very fast, and for the price you can't beat it really. I prefer this type of thermometer over the shoulder ones that fit in your sleeve because those inevitably seem to fall out and break or get damaged. The biggest reason I would recommend this product however would be the customer service from the seller. At first, I received a product which quit on me within a month, but the seller sent me a new one free of charge right away which has worked like a champion ever since (about a year). Knowing the seller has your back and the thermometer will do the job for a good price, I highly recommend this to any cooks out there looking for a cheap but great digital instant read thermometer.

I've been using this as a meat thermometer for almost a year now and every time I use it I say to myself "I've got to review this on Amazon! It's great!" Finally, I'm getting around to writing a five-star review. The digital read out is large and clear for my "over 40 eyes" and changing from C to F and back again only requires the quick push of a button. It gives you a reading very quickly and seems to be quite accurate. It automatically shuts off when you close it (fold the needle part back into the handle) and it snaps into place so you don't have to worry that it's going to jab you in the hand when you're rooting around in your misc. utensil drawer (you know you have one, too!). The only changes I would make would be larger buttons and an easier way to unsnap the needle, but those are such minor issues that I still have to give this five stars. Hope that helps!

I bought this to make sure meat & poultry was cooked to a safe temperature without overcooking. I have over cooked several expensive cuts of meat because it is inaccurate. I waited too long to return it via Amazon. Didn't realize I needed to do that within thirty days. I can't find the package so I don't know how to return it to the manufacturer so I am stuck with it.Update: After posting the above I was contacted by the seller. A replacement thermometer was sent to me. Unfortunately the new one is still not as accurate as I would like. So I can only raise my rating to three stars. I do appreciate the seller's attempt to make things right and if you purchase this I hope you will have better luck since many people have.

I purchased the thermometer because it was advertised as super fast/instant read. Although it is fast it is not instant. I purchased it to verify bread loaf's internal temperature is 205-210 F as fast as possible. My electronic meat thermometer is just as fast but it has all the wiring that this one does not have. You also have to be careful if it is on the right temperature scale. It is handy and received 4 stars because it did not meet my expectation on speed.

Have used this for more than a year. Works well. Not "instant" read, but fairly fast. 4 seconds? Does what I want it to do. I use it to double check my thermometer with a probe. I check it with boiling water and it was within a degree, and with ice water and it seemed accurate. I'd buy again for what I'm using it for.

this thermometer works well for my use. while it may not be lab accurate, it is surprisingly accurate for my cooking use. I mostly use it to measure meat temp. it really helps if I use it to check on a backed potato. I have used it to check my refridge is working. there are many uses for this thing. I really like it. the price was right, too.

I would not recommend this brand because when I purchased it, the page said there was a lifetime guarantee on it mechanically working, and now it says 30 days! I feel cheated. It worked fine when I bought it, but now I see that it's going haywire and showing a whole line of numbers shaking/blinking violently every time I turn it on to Fahrenheit. A couple of times it happened as soon as I turned it on when it was in the default Celsius mode, so something is obviously loose or coming apart that I can't see. I used this thermometer maybe 15 times since I bought it, with very simple usage and a quick shut off without problems, so it should not be acting up like this if it's a quality product. Perhaps if you're a heavy user, you may see the problems surface earlier than some other people, but I guess the lifetime guarantee that was there was taken off because people are actually returning the units. I am actually back here on Amazon to get the name of the unit and the seller so I don't make the same mistake twice. Very disappointed.
