Caboose (Gallery) Paperback – May 11, 2011

If you are looking for something for that hard to buy for person, and loves trains, this is it. Great information, history and colorful pictures through out the years.

Ten years after cooperating with John Gruber to write "Caboose" in 2001, Brian Solomon returned to the same subject matter to write this book as a solo effort in 2011. I have collected both of these books as well as the Mike Schafer book, also called "Caboose," which was written in 1997. I have been attempting to expand my knowledge of the caboose because it was always the most romantic feature or part of any train. These books seem to concur in this idea. However, these books also outline the typical life of the average train crew that rode and worked in a normal caboose. I admit that the wrking conditions under which the train crew in the caboose suffered tended to be anything but romantic.

Fantastic small sized book. If you love information and pictures in a type style order, here is a book for you. Its a nice stout little book packed with great looking pictures of cabooses. I am happy to have this book about the subject matter. The price is a great bargain. Allot of books on trains are expensive and this is a nice relief.

Der Einband einfacher Paperback, doch gut ist:es drückt nicht so, wenn man beim abendlichen Lesen im Bett darüber einschläft!!Englische Sprachkenntnisse sind nicht unbedingt notwendig, fast ein Fotobuch mit Bildunterschriften!Mir selbst ging es so, dass ich nach einiger Zeit im Umgang mit der Lektüre vergaß,dass der Text in US-Englisch verfasst ist. Mit meinem Schulenglisch kam ich bestens zurecht!Vielleicht ein Tipp für Sprachlernende: Persönlich stark interessierende Texte lesen,dann kommt das Verständnis der fremden Sprache sehr schnell von selbst.Fast wie im Sprachdialog, auch ohne viele Grammatikkenntnisse zu studieren!Dazu der tolle Preis für fast 200 Seiten handliches, ca. DIN A5-Format,so niedrig wie das Broschürenheftchen einer Zeitschrift.
