Flipping the Switch: Unleash the Power of Personal Accountability Using the QBQ!

Your Keys to Positive Leadership
As others have already have said, this book is a perfect compliment to QBQ!. I have purchased 2 copies for a leadership library I am starting at my place of employment. I originally read a copy of this book that I got from my public library. It was a very quick read, but the time it took me to read the book, I was able to take a look inside and help me help myself, which is one of the purposes of the "Question Behind the Question."As I read this book the second time, I immediately got an answer to something I was complaining about in my job as a phone customer service rep and cannot wait to share my insights on it with my supervisor. You have to read these books several times in order for all the ideas John Miller conveys to enter our brains. In our careers, the incorrect question is "Why can't I get my dream job?" when the Question Behind the Question should be, "What can I do in order to make myself the dream employee?"John G. Miller tells us that we cannot reap the benefits of lights without flipping the switch to let the electricity flow to the bulbs. He uses this illustration to let us know that we cannot reap the benefits of the QBQ without "Flipping the Switch" and letting their effects flow into our lives to make us better employees, family members, friends, and generally better overall people. When you ask the incorrect questions, you exhibit negative leadership. Asking the QBQ helps you demonstrate positive leadership. You make things better for you and those around you.If you look at your life as in disgustAnd you feel your career is a bustTake a look deep insideWhere your good points may hideFlipping the Switch is a source you can trust

There is Power in Personal Accountability - Don't Wait to Unleash Yours!
I enjoyed the quick read, and I know some people might think it is common sense, I don’t disagree. Yet we still live in a world where people chose not to take ownership and play the blame game. This book is a great reminder that I need, because sometimes I fall into the trapFlipping the Switch Flipping the Switch: Unleash the Power of Personal Accountability Using the QBQ!  reinforced my learning from the QBQ book I recently read. Personal accountability is an area I want to focus on in 2018; however this book is helping me focus on it now.If you are looking for a great stocking stuffer or gift for the teacher this holiday season, this book is a good one.Thank you John G. Miller for writing this easy and enjoyable read and for providing me a resource to help me further develop into the personally accountable person I desire to be.

QBQ Part II.
FLIPPING THE SWITCH is really a continuation of John Miller's first book, "QBQ: The Question Before the Question", and you will certainly want to read QBQ first to get the full impact out of this one. QBQ is for everyone, whereas this book, although everyone would benefit from it, is more geared towards the team leader. The advice is simply put. For instance, your questions should begin with "what" or "how", not "who", "when" or "why". Of course there are always exceptions to that, but just the simple premise of it will take you along way towards asking better questions. Another simple example that carries a lot of traction is for leaders to ask themselves each day, "What can I do today to develop my people?"This book discusses five advantage principles; learning * ownership * creativity * service & trust. Ready to use information on each advantage principle is covered.Like QBQ, Flipping the Switch is simply written and can be read in a day or two with long term benefits. You definately want to read this one, but you want to read QBQ first.

Disappointment of its own, may add to the original as appendix.
It appears that there was nothing else to add to the original "QBQ!" concept. Since I really liked the idea (that one can easily summarize on half a page or so) I believed the glowing reviews and thought there is a twist for personal (vs. organizational) QBQ. I was disappointed and feel that the five "Advantage Principles" are strained and random; the author could have picked five entirely different principles as well. I found that there is a possible sign up at the end of the book for e-mail notifications for "QBQ! QuickNotes" that would include stories similar to the ones contained in this book. I think that I would condense this book down to about the third of its size and include it in the appendix of the new edition of the original "QBQ!".Last thing: "flipping the switch" is a great idea. Dealing with many non-caring customer service "specialists" over the last few years made me quite pessimistic about the suggestion of ease. Does anybody really think that the solution would be this easy? Just find the switch and flip it? If accountability is not enforced vigorously (but how?) , we will much more likely get "Nope" or "Whatever" responses to our inquiries; it is hard to imagine that any manager could make some employees really care about the quality of service they provide. "It is just a job after all..." Without a sense of ownership no one bothers to look for any switch. As Louis Armstrong said "There are some people that if they do not know, you can't tell them..."

Quick Read. Not your typical self-help book. Everyone should read this and the QBQ.
Not sure how common sense strategies, get lost in the day to day. But this book helps put "verbs" into your sentences. I have a family member that hates to read anything, and I encouraged her to read this book because it is a quick read. She not only finished this book with some motivation..but wanted to read the QBQ next (due to the references in the book) -- good thing I had QBQ on hand =)

Great read
Perfect follow up to the QBQ! We often learn best practices and don’t apply them. Having specific actions to use our learnings is essential to grow.

QBQ is enough
It is about how to sell another book which content is based on a very successful previous book (QBQ). The content is interesting, but it is enough to read QBQ.
