The Cleveland Clinic Way: Lessons in Excellence from One of the World's Leading Health Care Organizations

Excellent discussion of how future healthcare can evolve for the better
The Cleveland Clinic Way is a great healthcare story. But it is also a great human story. The culture that evolved over the years nicely summarized by Dr. Cosgrove is the linchpin of the Cleveland Clinic's success. They over time were able to address the "360" care of the patient. Their model is unique however we know it can be replicated and has been in different areas of the country and the world as they have shown. CC has been able to strip the "industrial medical complex" and transform it into a patient centered enterprise. I encourage not only those involved in healthcare to read this book but also for society at large since a big message of the Cleveland Clinic Way is that everyone is truly involved in healthcare. It has been said that the most underutilized resource in healthcare is the patient. Well it appears the Cleveland Clinic is well on its way to uncloaking that resource and bringing it the front. Lastly for me the greatest benefit was the sense of optimism it instilled and renewed sense of accountability not only as a healthcare provider but also as a patient.

Innovation.
The American healthcare system is broken. As an allied medical professional, I would have to admit this book has changed the way I think and approach healthcare. This book should be required reading for everyone in Medical School. I highly recommend this book. This book has opened my eyes to areas within the medical field that I did not think about. If the American Healthcare System can follow the core concepts of the way Cleveland clinic does things, then I am sure we would see change. By far one of the most important medical books. Read this book follow some of the concepts, and you will see a chance. The first few chapters of the book open your eye to what is possible within healthcare. This book will change and at the same time challenge everything you know and think of the way the current American healthcare system works.

Perhaps would be better if it included un-edited comments from bedside providers
A top-down of how Cleveland Clinic might work or should work. Perhaps would be better if it included un-edited comments from bedside providers:Physicians, Nurses, Respiratory Therapists, Physical Therapists, and others such as-How 'The Cleveland Clinic Way' influences them..

Cleveland Clinic model
an interesting read. I worked at the Clinic for many years under various CEOs, and I wanted to see the change and the operating methods which continue to deem this as a center of excellence. Some very sound practices for a multifaceted institution.this should be mandatory reading for all healthcare systems. I am not saying the Clinic is the only model but it does have it's merits.

Gets you inside a leading healthcare system.
Very good book about the present state of healthcare and where it's going. It's a love story about the Cleveland Clinic, figure, but I found it interesting to see what it was like inside one of the leading healthcare systems.

nice one
The reason I've read this book is to implement some advises in the clinic I work right now, and actually I will, but in camparison with lessons from Mayo clinic this book looks more like self-advertising one. Maybe my impression is erroneous!

Must read for healthcare professionals
Must read for healthcare providers and adminsitrators. Cosgrove's discussion about improving the patient experience offers great insight into how we shold be changing the delivery of healthcare for the better. It's not enough just to be technically outstanding. How patients and their families/caregivers experience that care has an impact on patient engagement, the quality of care, and ultimately the outcome of that care.

Excellent stuff
Worth reading into the functioning of The Cleveland Clinic. The narration style is good and would be appealing for both the physician and manager alike. Good buy. Strongly recommended.
