Why You Really Hurt: It All Starts in the Foot

So simple, so effective, so grateful...
Wow - I can't believe it. I just got this book and I'm dumbfounded. I just had my best "foot" day in two years plus. I've seen two podiatrists with the usual cortisone shots and orthos in excess of $700 with no relief. They both suspected neuromas but one thought it may be something else as welI. I tried a Chiro who left me hobbling all weekend. I tried a foot reflexologist, more pain.Things just kept getting worse. I was resigned that chronic pain was my fate. I tried Dr. Schuler's simple suggestion and I felt so much better. I couldn't believe the difference. Last night I tried one layer and noticed it helped. This morning I doubled up the pads and the relief was pretty much immediate. I taped up the bottom of my feet pretty well and the pads stayed on during a pilates reformer class. I'll give an update since I've only been trying the pads for 1-1/2 days but just felt I had to write a review. I hope other people come across this book like I did. I've read/perused four or five. I didn't realize how my feet were affecting my mood and general outlook although I've been feeling miserable. I have written a few good reviews on metarsal support pads and they did help me but not like this. I don't really have classic morton's toe symptoms - meaning, my second toes are a trace smaller than my big toes - so don't get discouraged if you think this won't work for you. I would just suggest that if you have or suspect neuromas don't tape you toes up so much that your squishing them as if you're shoes are to tight. I used your basic waterproof first aid tape and it worked very well. Be nice to your feet and toes - "you don't know what you've got till it's gone" (Joni Mitchell).THANK YOU DR. SCHULER!!Update: Went back to using single pads - double were too much. I still have some pain but my feet have improved. I think these little pads have helped me more than either of the custom and expensive orthotics I purchased - one from a doctor. I don't feel I need metatarsal support now. My feet are more comfortable with regular insoles. I'll update again after some time.UPDATE: 12/15 - I've been using the pads for about 4 months. My feet have improved even more since my last update. I'm so happy I came across this book. It has liberated my mind from constantly thinking about my feet and pain with every step. Why don't podiatrists give their patients this book? I guess we know the answer - it's a cheap, easy, drug free remedy that works. I feel like sending this book to the three doctors I saw but assume they would just toss it. I still make sure I get proper footwear that doesn't smash my toes in any way. I buy wides even though my feet don't measure wide and 1/2 size larger. Thanks again Dr. Schuler.

Don't give up till you read this book!
I have been waiting and praying for some practical advice for so long!! Perhaps I am too quick to assume that this will continue to work but I have to have to have some optimism after all I've been through, and others, as well, I am sure.I have hyper mobile, totally flat feet. Not technically a Morton's toe, but as Dr. Schuler explains, a hypermobile first metatarsal can cause the same problems as a Morton's toe. I have a rotated pelvis, pain in hips, knees, thighs and neck and shoulder, Morton's neuroma, peroneal tendonitis, bunion, for many years. I began seeing a trigger point release practitioner last year and my feet changed, for the better so I stopped wearing the horrid orthotics, one of many, many custom made pairs, that never helped me and began wearing a good motion control shoe which made matters somewhat worse. They seemed to aggravate the neuroma and the pain in my bunion and the peroneal tendonitis in my ankle. PLus I continued to have excruciatingly tight muscles in my thighs and calves no matter what trigger points were released. I figured my feet were involved with that and began researching the web. I found Dr. Schuler's book and ordered it right away. I made the toe pad from an old shoe liner, as I have many insoles in bags in my closet. My feet feel more stable and I actually took a short walk, something I have not been able to do, in a neutral pair of Brooks Ghost running shoes. I'm afraid to totally rejoice just yet. When I walk my first mile in six years, I know I will cry and thank God again for Dr. Schuler's book.As a sort of funny side note, I thought I'd see one of my many podiatrist doctors I've seen over the years and ask him his opinion of this method and ask if he had shoe recommendations. He actually told me it was all in my head that I felt better all over and that he didn't believe in Morton's toe contributing to any issues in the body. I left and cried, never having been so embarrassed in my life. So much for open minded physicians.A note to people trying this for the first time....My feet feel weird, like there's pressure on them but not in a bad way. I also wore a 1/4" lift on my left leg for a few years which compounded all my pain issues. That was some stupid pain management doctor's solution to having a rotated pelvis. NO ONE ever really looked at my feet as a cause. So my feet have been through a lot and I suspect this will take some time to adjust.Bottom line, buy the book and try the toe pad. If I didn't live 2,000 miles away from Dr. Schuler, I'd drive there myself to thank him in person.I'm 61 and hopefully can get back to walking regularly.

Excellent book. I have been trying to figure out ...
Excellent book. I have been trying to figure out for 20 years why my feet, knees and hips hurt when I run. Despite many visits to so called foot specialists over the years (and 3 separate attempts at orthotics), not one of them diagnosed my Morton's Foot!
