Greatness!!
This book is excellent; and, I am particularly impressed with the FYI or for your information boxes, Key Point boxes, and Charts that increase your interest and reinforce outside or prior knowledge. The multiple-choice questions after each chapter are pleasurable and are assisted by case studies with answers to both at the end of the text to verify your thought process.Particular Amazing Points: Laboratory Introduction, The Blood, Hemostasis and CoagulationChapter 7 is the meat and potatoes of the Phlebotomy textbook on all you need to know about taking a routine venous blood sample, in what order, and what additive is involved, which is mostly supplemented by understanding the cardiovascular and coagulation system from Chapter 6. Other chapters cover pre-analytical mistakes and rationales, special or point-of-care testing, such as, capillary puncture with its own order of draw. Coverage of all 14 chapters is necessary to become a well-rounded professional and pass the national Phlebotomy exam.Note: I did not use the workbook, but it looks like only instructors have answers for it, nor did I utilize the exam review book, but I am sure I wouldn't have minded the additional exam practice questions.

Informative and arrived in mint condition.
I initially bought this for my friend who is pursuing her license/certification as a Phlebotomist and she is doing very well in her classes. She says that the book is in good condition and that there are no missing pages which is comforting to know since it was sent to her house and not mine. She says that the information is up to date and that she is doing well. Unsure if that's cause of her studying capabilities AND this book. Or if it's just this book.

Satisfied
I have been shopping on Amazon for years and I never right reviews but being a busy mother I find that shopping online is most convenient. When I am shopping online I rely on the reviews of other consumers that have already purchased these products therefor I decided to help out and write my own. I was very pleased with the phlebotomy book that I purchased. There were several different choices to pick from but this book also has access to an online review and test practices. Inside the book there are charts, colored photos and chapter quizes for better understanding. I highly recommend this study book :)

great textbook.
Very nicely put together. Very easy to comprehend. However, some of the videos that are listed on the website (link is in the book) has some very questionable material. One instance, we learned to NEVER reach over your hand while the needle is in the arm... In the video the phlebotomist reaches over to grab somethingAnother example, when putting on PPE. The video says "Do not touch the front covering, it should remain as sterile as possible". The woman showing how to put on the gown is touching all over the front. Contradicting the narrator.

great book
Great information easy to read and fairly well organized. I loved the detailed pictures of all the medical equipment. The website is amazing and free with purchase. It has great supplemental study games and even flash cards.

Great Resource
Great book on the essentials needed for phlebotomy. I didn't purchase the book for a class, but for my job. I wanted to understand the proper procedures for drawing and treatment of the samples after a draw (order of draw, mixing, centrifuging, storing until pickup). As a new RN working at a LTC facility, this info was very helpful and helped me to feel more confident performing draws at my job. It also makes a great reference and is a book I plan to keep in my medical library.

Helpful
This book has everything you need to know about phlebotomy and more (literally; my teacher says it's got way more stuff than you will ever need to know at one time, but it's all valid… if that makes any sense). Some of the chapters seem a little outdated (who isn't familiar with a computer in 2015?), but that will be updated in the next edition, I'm sure.As to the test ( isn't that what we're all preparing for?), I have NO CLUE what's on it, but I would imagine if you studied this book AND the workbook along with good training, you would be adequately prepared. This book has clear diagrams, tables, and charts, including what tubes are used for what tests, which is handy. Good Luck in your endeavors.Update: 5/20/15 I was giving this book five stars, but I realize upon second reading that there are parts of it that are just gobbledygook. Like chapter one, for example. Too many acronyms, and not enough background or examples on the different types of managed care organizations. Why not just give real-world examples of each and not leave us scratching our heads trying to keep them all straight. It seems like a case of editing gone mad. Someone cut out the parts that made it make any sense to a real human being. Here's an idea, cut out the computer literacy part where you tell us what a printer is, and make that up by clarifying chapter one. Oh, and btw, I'm a straight A student, so it's not because I'm illiterate...

Exactly what I needed.
This is the book I needed and I have no qualms concerning it. It is a mandatory purchase in accordance with my schools curriculum, and it is very detailed. I have felt the need to read, then check the glossary, then check the index, and then reread the chapter; but that is not an issue with the book's presentation of content but instead a testament to the content that requires such diligence. I recommend reviewing this book a number of times before testing, and good luck!
