Positive Psychology Group Therapy for Long-Term Incarceration: A Therapy Manual

This manual takes away minutes out of my preparation time for groups. I read the lesson 15 minutes before group time and I am ready to go. The inmates are loving the group session since the exercises are target to them. However, the lessons can easily be modified for outpatient clients. This is the best money spent on a manual. If you are working on a jail or prison and doing groups you won't regret getting this manual.

It's hard finding group material that addresses the challenges of long term incarceration and/those who have received a death sentence. I have been using this book for the past several weeks in my group and the patients have responded positively to it, it gives them material to think about, and concepts/suggestions they can implement.

This book was easy to read and helpful. I wish there were workbooks that could be ordered with it

I work in a psychiatric prison and use this book in some group therapy. It is one of the few books I have found that is geared toward people who are incarcerated - and the only good book I've found for long term incarceration. My clients like it, it is interesting and helpful. It is defiantly for intelligent high functioning clients though. The reason I only gave it 3 stars is because it is written at a pretty high reading level and the concepts are pretty complex. As we know, people who are incarcerated are often not the most educated individuals. I use it for the clients who are very educated and want to expand their mind. I can not use it on clients who have a low level of education they just do not get it and get very frustrated .

Such an interesting book and perfect for my job

A good workbook, which demonstrates that even in the forensic setting positive psychology has it's place. The even in is actually poor phraseology, for this should be especially in. I have used the book and it is effective.
