the appalachian trail
I only read about this book in the local paper as a recommended item for Christmas. A friend has hiked the trail and I knew she would like it but I never actually saw the book myself.PROBLEM: I included a request for a gift card so that she would know it was from me....she lives in another state.When I saw it had been delivered and did not hear from her, I contacted her directly and she said there was no gift card or indication it was from me and she had no idea who sent it. That was big mistake on your part...first one I've encountered with Amazon but still a mistake.

I am so glad to find this book. My husband recently passed away and we loved our time on the trail. It brings back so many happy memories.

A great book for AT lovers!
This is a wonderful book for those that love the AT, or just dream about it. I have two other books (Long Trails; Pacific Crest) from the same company. Not only are the pictures wonderful, but the narrative is entertaining to read. I love these books.

EXCELLENT BOOK
THIS BOOK IS FANTASTIC. AGREE WITH OTHER PURCHASER TOO HEAVY FOR BEDROOM READING HAS TO BE COFFEE TABLE. THE PICTURES ARE REALLY EXCELLENT. HAVE NOT READ ONLY LOOKED AT PICTURES AT THE MOMENT. READ BILL BRYSONS INTRODUCTION AS READ HIS BOOK WALK IN THE WOODS ALSO WATHCHED THE FILM THAT IS WHAT ENCOURAGED ME TO BUY THIS BOOK. GLAD I DID WELL WORTH THE MONEY. WOULD THOUROUGHLY RECOMMEND ALSO RETAILER AS EXCELLENT PACKAGING.

Stunning photographs of the trail. It gives you unprecetended insight on how it came to be and hope for its futur.

May not ever get to walk the Trail....but
That doesn't stop me from dreaming about it. The photographs are absolutely superb - haven't read all the words yet, but looking forward to it. Great coffee table book, as it's far too big and heavy to read in bed.

Beautiful!
I've always wanted to hike the Appalachian Trail, but live too far away now. This book is the next best thing if you ask me. Beautiful photography, and loads of information about the trail and it's history.
