Blackmagic DesignMini Converter - Analog to SDI

I had to read instructions in order to get it to work properly, and also purchased BM’s TB3 Mini 3G Recorder to bring analog component and stereo video from my very old HD pro consumer camcorder into my MacBook Pro M1 Max. Everything was perfect using the BM Express software.

I have used the BMD Analog Video - Audio to SDI (Serial Digital) for years to make older analog devices compatible with new digital units. For the most they work out of box and I suggest, unless you are a professional person and can assemble you own cables, you purchase ready made good quality analog video cables, analog audio cables and professional SDI Cable to your actual encoder. I also suggest you use the Component Video (RY-BY-Y or RGB) if possible, much cleaner, than straight Composite. This should work with any US Composite or Component source. Note! It will not make a bad video better. If original has creases, drop outs, snow, bad color, it can not fix them.

This is a great product. Setup was quick and easy. Had to download software and manual from website, but all in all a great product at a good price.

I have been using this converter for transferring all of my videotapes from my VCRs that have S-VIDEO outputs (using an S-Video Y Adapter cable) . The nice thing about this converter is that you can connect your RCA audio to it (using 1/4 adapters). Also, the audio sync has always been perfect for me using this converter. I then use the SDI out to a field recorder (such as the Blackmagic Video Assist). This allows me to record in PRORES at the highest quality possible. If you want the best possible tape transfers for personal or business needs, this converter is essential as part of the workflow. I've had mine for 3 or 4 years now and have had no issues. This DOES NOT have a time base corrector (TBC) built into it, so if you want to improve tracking, remove tearing and jitter (and reduce other artifacts) from the tape, you will need to obtain a TBC separately.

I own two of these. One is two years old, one is a few months old. They work just like they should. They support 1080p30 and 720p60 over HD-SDI and any other 3G setting. They take a standard 12v power supply so when I lost mine I found another one easily. They seem just designed for studio work but I've taken them outside and run them in less-than-perfect conditions without a problem.I heard a friend had issues with one of his years ago and he needed to install a firmware update. I've never had problems with mine.

I splatter these throughout the building at work, converting various sources into HDSD and they just work. They are set and forget and have no issues for years at a time

This item works well ... I've had no issues at this point. It helps connect my older camera via RCA to my newer gear that uses SDI connections.

I really like BMD stuff... Just plug it in and it works like it should. I bought this converter to take my Sony HVR Z1u component out to SDI so I can record to SSD using the Blackmagic Design HyperDeck Shuttle 2 SSD Video Recorder, 2.5" SATA SSD Drives, HD-SDI Input & Output. It all works just like it should...
