Otterbox Defender Series Case for iPad Air - Frustration Free Packaging - Black

Your browser does not support HTML5 video. I have used Otterbox defender cases for years and I have purchased them for my iPads and iPhones. I have also purchased 4 of them for friends and family as gifts. This model is really the best one yet for protection and clarity of the screen for the iPad Air. There is only one major issue for me and that is the fact that Otterbox did not include the magnets in the snap on lid to put the iPad to sleep or to wake it up to conserve battery power.I put together a video to show the benefits and features of this new case and basically it is nicely designed. I like the screen shield as it is clear and easy to see through and use. That has been my major complaint in the last two generations of iPad Defender cases and frankly I cut the screen shield out of the old cases as they made the retina screen look granulated and it diminished the quality of the screen image. This model has a clear shield and it really is very good when compared to the older versions.The synthetic rubber outer layer is tight and the texture on it is very nice. It will not show scuffs and finger prints as easily as the one I have on my iPad 3.I have to tell you that I am upset about the failure of Otterbox to put the two magnets into the snap on lid for the sleep/wake function. For me that is a major feature. I review a lot of products and I have already reviewed multiple cases with the magnets built in and even Bluetooth keyboard cases for the iPad Air with this feature. There simply is no excuse for having not included this feature that conserves iPad battery power. For me the case was just rushed to market to make shipments for the Christmas season at the expense of loyal customers that would have simply expected this feature as a standard built in part of the design. It is like buying a car and not getting brakes on the car. Just think, who would even think to ask if a car came with brakes or not or if an $89.95 case had a basic sleep/wake feature for an Apple iPad.I rated this case as a four star item and it would have clearly been a 5 star review with this feature built in. Dear Otterbox, come on man, what were you thinking!

Otterbox has really got the market cornered on iPad cases for the construction industry - at least in our market. We've been buying these for our field supervisors and they abuse EVERYTHING. Surprisingly we have yet to have an iPad that needed any maintenance, replacement of parts, or outright replacement due to damage. These cases take a beating. They are a little on the pricey side, but if/when you want to sell your iPad later, you take the Defender off, clean & erase the iPad, and it looks almost like it just came out of the box. I cannot say enough about these cases regarding durability. They can be a little tricky to install & take-off, but once you get it down it gets easier. I can assure you - if you're willing to sacrifice weight, size, and not being able to touch the actual screen for some bomb-proof durability, this case is your solution.

The shipping was fantastic, got it immediately within a few days. It looked very sturdy, BUT I could not figure out how to take it apart in order to use it. My age figures in probably, as I read the enclosed directions, which I tried doing to no avail and I went online to youtube and those people that do those tutorials go too fast for an old lady, so I said to myself forget it send it back, one good thing about Amazon, I then ordered myself one that looks a lot easier to use. I've used covers for my kindles, cells, but this one was almost guaranteed to safe guard your device in case you drop, but this old gal could not understand how it worked....In a few months will be 80. So if you're my age, forget it...otherwise looked fantastic.

I got this after a previously bought case didn’t seem like it would hold up to the rigors I put my iPad through. I take my iPad everywhere. It has been dropped, walked all over by dogs and is daily thrown into my purse with my keys and a whole host of other potentially damaging things. The case is beat up. The rubber cover is stretched out at the corners. The screen is covered in scratches. And every time I take the iPad out to clean everything, I’m in awe of what perfect condition it is in. This case has held up under very tough conditions. I would highly recommend this for anyone who is rough on their electronics and wants a case that will really do the job of protecting it. I wouldn’t buy any other case.

This case is great, extremely protective! I haven't dropped my iPad yet, but I'm sure that if I did nothing would happen. It is a bit bulky considering how thin the iPad Air is, but it has to be in order to protect it as much as it does. I only use the cover/stand when take it out of the house. I'm a freelance graphic designer, and the stand is perfect for when I visit clients and have to show them my proposal or portfolio.The built-in screen protector works perfectly: absolutely no lack of screen responsiveness. But I'm giving this case 4 stars and not 5 because where the iPad screen meets the case screen in some places it creates a rainbow effect -- I don't know how else to describe it -- imagine those colors a car lubricant or grease stain leaves on concrete or asphalt (I've attached a photo for better understanding). Also, the edges where the screen protector meets the case accumulates a lot of dirt and dust, which can only be cleaned with a vacuum or compressed air, and the screen protector itself gets very dirty and is not as easy to clean as using a dry cloth to clean it.I'm basing my 4-star review on how protective the case is, because I think that's the whole point of having a case, and not on all the cons mentioned above.

With a 13 month old who gets into everything and constantly grabs my phone or iPad only to quickly toss them to the floor, I find this case to be the perfect solution. Does it make them more bulky and add some weight? Yep. Of course. And I'm happy about it. I'm not worried that the screen is going to crack again (had to have one iPad replaced when I was just using the leather case from apple) and that's a relief. I also really enjoy the stand because it's very sturdy and when it's not being used as a stand it adds protection to the screen or back of your iPad as well as the corners.

Perfecto amolde al Ipad, todos los botones coinciden sin problema alguno. Tal vez el unico pero es la proteccion Home que he encontrado en mi otra carcasa, es lo unico por lo demas genial.
