RBRB Red Baron 20-Inch Professional Leaf Rake, Rag Bag Model

My pool is literally on the edge of old growth forest and I although we enjoy nice afternoon shade I fight leaves all season long. I have two oversized skimmers but daily need to scoop leaves (which I enjoy so no big deal).After 40+ years of running my parents pool, a community pool and my own pool I am qualified to say this is hands down the best leaft rake ever made. So far it's lasted 3 seasons and shows no wear, that is 1 season longer than any other rake I have ever used.Start with the frame, it is curved with a straight edge to get even hard to pick up items off the bottom of your pool. You can scoop up keys, goggles anything with this net.The bag is reinforced and the reinforcement is designed to reduce drag when in the water. The bag also comes back to a taper which reduces drag in the water and makes it easy to flip over and dump out.Well thought out, well engineered. This company's only problem is that it;s such a good long lasting product that it will hurt their repeat sales.UPDATE 2016, It's been 5 seasons of very hard use and I finally got a hole in the side of the bag. It still works great but it's only a matter of time. They sell replacement parts but for $5 more I can buy a new one. Still the best pool skimmer/leaf rake ever, period.

My pool is beautifully situated in a lush forested heaven. This pool is absolutely beautiful, execept during the Autumn months when a quantity of leaves that can only be evaluated in numbers that rival the U.S. national debt are rudely deposited into it with a precision that clearly tells me these trees enjoy playing games with my mind.Enter the Purity Pool RBRB Red Baron 20-inch Professional Leaf Rake. This thing is fantastic! It is wide-mouthed, strong, and holds a ton of debris; nicely transforming the monumental task of leaf raking my pool from a dreaded task into a labor of love.If you want to put your trees in their place and teach them who's boss, don't waste your time with lesser products. Ignore the price tag and just buy this thing...you won't regret it.UPDATE: Well, after seven years of continuous use, my Purity Pool RBRB Red Baron 20-inch Professional Leaf Rake needs to be retired due to a few tears in the heavy-duty netting. This is an outstanding product and I am replacing it with the same product. GET ONE OF THESE and never look back!

Best net for your pool! Our first one lasted for 5 years! Slides across bottom of pool smoothly and net is sturdy!

While looking though past items that I purchased on Amazon, I noticed that I bought this approx 3 years ago. Although this item is much more expensive than other pool nets it has lasted almost three years already and it still in good shape, whereas with the other cheap nets I was replacing them about once per year. This net has two meshes inside and thus is able to support a much heavier load of leaves. I would recommend this product and the seller.

I have been using Red Baron leaf rakes as a pool service pro for about 5 years. I will use nothing else. The replaceable leading edge allows the net to scoop anything off the bottom, from something the size of a grain of rice and up. The bag itself is very limp, so emptying it is a breeze. Simply flip it over 180 degrees which allows it to fall back through the frame emptying it. Flip it back through the frame and get back to work. When you get good at it, you can empty it with a well executed 360 degree turn. Both the red leading edge and the bag itself are replaceable, saving you money. Unfortunately, the black plastic handle is not sold as a replacement part.

Hate to be the spoiler here, but I've got the cheap model, which does not work well raking leaves from the bottom of the pool, and this professional model is no better. I've been maintaining my pool myself for at least 20 years, so I know what I'm doing. Using this twice now to rake leaves from the bottom, I've been able to catch 3, maybe 4, leaves at any given time. Sometimes, the leaves fall out before I can remove the rake and fall back to the bottom, so I have to start all over. But, the main problem is this device just doesn't seem to pick up leaves from the pool bottom.The BEST and ONLY device I've found to collect leaves from the pool bottom is the Blue Devil Leaf Bagger, which uses water pressure from your garden hose to suction them up in a swirling whirlpool like maelstrom. Of course connecting, then disconnecting (when finished) the hose to the leaf bagger is more labor intensive than a leaf rake, but at least it works.Perhaps I'm not agitating the leaves sufficiently to rake them into the net, or maybe I'm just clumsy; but so far this hasn't worked any better than the cheap model I bought at the pool store (which doesn't work well either).

In July, I will have had my Purity Pool RBRB Red Baron 20-Inch Professional Leaf Rake for seven years. It has spent all that time outside, and just has a minor tear in the secondary panel. It recently passed a test that I didn't think it would -- picking up thick green algae off the bottom of pool. This stuff is extremely heavy, when first taking it out of the water and I was certain that it would rip the net off, but it did not and it held up very well. When it's time to replace it, I'll look to get the same one.
