Aquired taste
Definitely an aquired taste. My friend tried it abd hated it, but I loved these probably because I knew what to expect from trying the strawberry ones. I must say I like these better because they actually tasted fruity like melon but reminded me of green apple, the strawberry ones tasted like bubblegum. I definitely want to order more.

I liked these much more than the strawberry ones
Surprisingly, I liked these much more than the strawberry ones. The bean paste has a nice texture, and the melon flavor isn't too intense or perfume-y.I will say, the mochi has a more pleasant mouth feel if you firm it up by leaving the cakes in the fridge. So I recommend eating them cold.

Mochimochi!!
I’ve recently been immersed into Japanese culture which made me curious to try various Japanese candies. I was pleasantly surprised by these Melon Daifuku! If you’re not a fan of marshmallow texture and consistency then these are not for you. They’re also quite larger than I was expecting which I liked since I could cut them in half if I couldn’t handle a whole one. The flavor is just right, not too strong and perfectly sweet, but VERY chewy! Overall, very delicious! Side note - I also tried the Strawberry flavor, and if you’re a huge fan of melon like myself, definitely try these first! For any banana fans out there, another brand on Amazon sells banana and orange flavors too! Also try and put a few in the fridge for a slight texture change and a cold treat!

My first Mochi
After seeing a video about Mochi and its significance in Japan and Japanese culture I went to Amazon and took a chance. I was VERY surprised, in a very good way. In the video Mochi comes off like a much softer version of Marshmallow despite coming from rice. Knowing how marshmallow dries out I figured the Mochi would be dry and tasteless by the time it got to me in the midwest. I was COMPLETELY wrong. It was INCREDIBLY soft and very tasty. I am big fan of melon, but it is not a taste you find often in America. The taste was great, it was sweet without being a solid block of sugar and the only downside is that once I open a package, ... I finish the package. As for the value for money? I don't know because I have not comparison shopped. But it was low enough for me to try and I certainly fell like I got my money's worth.

Only daifuku I like!
I've tried a variety of Daifuku and Melon is the only flavor I love. The Rice cake is mildly sweet with a thick jelly like texture you can squeeze in your hands with a light corn starch coating so it won't stick everywhere. The Melon filling is sweet with a light melon flavor sort of like gum that you can't chew. I don't know if I'm turning you on or off to the product but it's very delicious and sometimes I like to eat the filling separate from the cake. They are both quite good on their own and neither overpowers the other in flavor.Update Note 4/10/13: I think these are being shipped from a different supplier or perhaps the same company is now using different methods to prepare them as the filling is not the same and I'm not liking it at all. Maybe I'll order another pack sometime in the future to see if this is the case but if they stay like this now, i will have to drop some stars.

A-lot-of-sugar with a hint of rice-flour.
Not exactly what I suspected, but was still delightful.Basically, bean jam inside a marshmellow inside a powder coated soft gelatin. Not really sweet until you get to the marshmellow layer, but then it becomes very sweet. The melon flavor and scent seemed really subtle to me. Mostly just tastes like a-lot-of-sugar with a hint of rice-flour.It's really-really soft, which wasn't as I expected, but is actually pleasant in a unique way. They aren't the healthiest snack you could pick and they are rather small for how much sugar is densely packed into the center, but it makes for a yummy treat to go alone or along with some hot tea.I wouldn't recommend eating more than two of these at a time, unless you plan on chugging a ton of water to help pass them through your system. I ate three and my stomach feels like I just ate a large sandwich. :s

My favorite mochi so far (this brand)
My favorite mochi so far (this brand). It's the texture. I discovered mochi this year and can't get enough. I have some lingering dental pain and I throw these in the freezer, one or two is a filling snack but if not for that I could eat the whole bag because the texture is so good. I've tried a bunch of store-bought mochi this year and this is my favorite. The filling is small, not overpowering. I was way into strawberry, but I'm really liking melon and green tea. I did not think I'd like melon, to be honest, but the simplicity of the flavor is a nice change. In fact, my last order was mostly strawberry and I'm sorry I didn't get more of these. Next time!
