Bulk Buy: Lily Sugar 'n Cream 100% Cotton Yarn (2-Pack) (Holiday Stripes #21532)

I use this yarn a lot. I have an Etsy shop and make custom crochet items (MindyMakesIt). It is a bit more expensive than in the stores, but came right to my house within a day. If the stores are out of the color I need, I come here. My customers like the cotton yarn because it is 100% cotton and made in the USA. It is soft and wears well. Some people think cotton is hard to crochet with, but there are some simple tricks, 1. don't try to crochet with it as it comes, get yourself a yarn winder, and wind it into a cake with center pull. 2. don't use a bamboo hook, the cotton sticks to it more, use an aluminium hook, with an inline throat, not a tapered throat. 3. Make sure the tip is more flat and the groove is deep. This makes a big difference. Use the right tool for the job :)

This yarn is very hard to work with. Easily separates into individual strands. Not very soft.Price is exorbitant. Advertised to receive 2 skeins but only one is sent.Will not buy again.

This is NOT the quality associated with Lily Sugar’n Cream cotton yarn. I have used this particular color (Holiday Stripes) for years. When I ran out of yarn, I was dismayed that I had run out of my supply of this color. When I saw this was sold at Amazon, I was thrilled. Then I received it and was shocked that it was not the usual vibrant color. It was faded out color and did not match the yarn color in uncompleted project. I returned it. Don’t buy it!

I haven't used the yarn. Contacted customer service that I only received 1 ball. Said they would resend & I would need to return the first one or I would be charged for 2 orders.. The second order arrived today with only 1 ball of yarn. They are obviously from a different dye lot. I'm very frustrated & would cancel the whole thing & send back but this was the color my grandchild wanted for a special project I was going to do for her.Update :: Again contacted customer service & they said they were going to cancel my order because they couldn't be sure that 2 balls would arrive in another replacement order. They will issue a refund when they receive the yarn back.

I really like the color of the yarn and the way it feels. It worked perfectly for when I was crocheting, BUT the picture is deceiving. I thought they would come in much larger bundles than what I received. One of them was good enough for making one hot pad and something small like a coffee warmer, but that's it. Maybe I didn't read the description good enough, but I would rather go to Michael's than to purchase them here.

I love the colors, the size is right, and it looks fine when the item is finished. However, the texture of Lily's Sugar and Cream yarn is not the quality I like. It was stiff and course making it not easy to use. I really prefer Lily's Peaches and Cream Yarn.

I was delighted to get this yarn at a reasonable price. The color is beautiful so I was more than happy. Then I started knitting. I was half way into a small project when I ran into two knots that ajoined. The yarn knots were within ten feet of each other. Big disappointment. I understand and accept the fact that there are reasons to have an occasional bonding knot but this was too much too soon! Spend the extra money and go for quality. 😥PS: Just hit the third knot!!!!!!!

Color is great...I got Blueberry and Tea Rose and they are both lovely. Although I am very new to knitting, this seems like really nice yarn and I’m excited to get started trying to make a couple of pot holders.I was surprised at the actual size of the skeins...as mentioned I’m a newbie, so I didn’t realize how small 2.5 oz of number 4 yarn would be. Rack skein is approximately 4 inches tall by 2.75 inches in diameter. Now I know!

I love the feel and how easy it is to work with. I do wish the balls were bigger, but that's my only criticism. This is by far one the easiest yarns I've worked with.
