My son loves this series. For reference, he enjoys Boxcar Children and Hardy Boys.

I read a lot of really extreme views- loving or hating. That’s the only two types of people motivated to write reviews, right?!Well. I read it first to make sure it was good for my daughter. The first parts were slow, with too many characters... I had a hard time getting into it. But BOY HOWDY, when I stuck with it I was pleasantly surprised. It’s a lovely story about humans in a unique living community experiencing love, friendship, and the day to day life. It’s wholesome.My daughter read it- she had a slow start as well but then stayed up until 10pm to finish. She then looked up the author, additional books in the series, wrote the author a letter, and we ordered the rest of the books.Compare all you would like to other books- but I think that’s a strange waste of time. It’s precious, unique, and worth the read.

This is a great family book full of love and city type adventures. It is funny and has nice life lessons. It shows real scenarios and how the characters get together to help each other. My kids love the book series. I highly recommend the book.

An excellent story with lessons to be learned while reading it. I will recommend this to my students. It’s entertaining and humorous. I enjoyed it a bunch.

Fantastic book! I loved sharing it with my kids as a read aloud. Together we were delighted to share experiences with the Vanderbeekers again. I love the example for my kids of the children working together towards a common goal, the realization that people aren’t who you assume they are at first glance, and that hard work can pay off more than you every hoped. My kids love how relatable the characters are to each of them. We all get sucked into the lives and story of this literary family that has quickly become one of our favorites!

Gift for granddaughter. Easy return to Amazon as granddaughter received one from a friend. Awarding five stars because after reading the first book, she and her sister read the others in the series from the library.Not sure about difficulty level as both girls are ardent readers. Books were easy for them.

Our 9-year old devours these books. The second one in the series is just as good as books 1 and 3 (out now). It's got a great sense of family, drama, humor, and dventure. There's a dark enemy (but not scary), and the Vanderbeekers work together in their classic chaotic and wholesome way to vanquish their opponent. The end is uplifting, but it's the fun along the way that makes the book so great for young readers. Very good buy.

What an adorable sequel! I absolutely loved getting to read about the Vanderbeeker kids again. They’re such sweet and hilarious characters and I can’t help but adore their sibling bond. I also love their neighbours. Mr Jeet and Miss Josie are the sweetest and seeing how the Vanderbeekers have helped Mr Beiderman slowly begin to deal with his grief, had me tearing up. Herman was also a wonderful new character and his friendship and shared love of knitting with Hyacinth was so adorable. This book also made me laugh so much especially the scene involving sneaking a certain rabbit into a hospital. I love the series so much, it’s so heartwarming and I can’t wait to read the third book.

I’m 10 years old, I would curl up in my bed at 7:00 and when I look at the clock again it would be 10:00 it was a great book so addictive
