We have "luxury vinyl plank" flooring, and our dining room chairs have steel "buttons" on the bottom of the legs. They make a terrible scraping sound, and I'm sure that the floors are getting some damage also. I found these teflon slides with a nail, and gave them a try. I had to pry the steel buttons off, and then drill a small hole to guide the nail, but to date we've had no issues at all. I'm very pleased to have them protecting our floors and helping move the chairs.

What we had put on the bottom of our kitchen chairs before was a rubbery slider with a red felt pad that fit over the very bottom of each chair leg. These would stretch and fall off and even when they didn't come off they collected every bit of lint on the kitchen floor. I found these new sliders and they are great. The brown color match the chair. My wife likes that these new sliders are not really visible and do not detract from the look of our dining room furniture. I purchased both the 1" and 7/8" sizes and opted for the 1" size. It was suggested that I drill a pilot hole but I discovered for me that it wasn't necessary. I lined up the nail head in the center of my chair leg and lightly tapped it with my rubber mallet until it stuck. I was able each time to give it one good hit dead center and then 2 or 3 hits more and the slider was on. We have vinyl plank kitchen flooring and now our chairs slide across the floor with ease. I also tried them on our rug in the living room and the chairs now glide very easily there also. My wife and I would definitely recommend these sliders.

I'm using these on carpet and they work great. Instead of the dining chairs "hopping" when being pulled out from the table, they slide nicely .... well, they *almost* slide nicely. I ordered the 3/4" and they are shy of 3/4" (which would be 6/8") they are 5/8" wide. Had I known, I would've ordered the next size up. My chair leg tips are larger on the front than the back and the front sliders need to be larger. I'm going to head to the store and pick up a few larger ones. I had 2 larger ones in my stash and hammered them in and that one chair slides perfectly.

Easy to install. Put them on the legs of outdoor wooden deck furniture. They work great! I ordered another 24 pack for some indoor dining chairs, so they will slide on the rug.

These were not as effective to prevent scratching on vinyl plank flooring as I had hoped. We found, after about a year, that on kitchen chairs that are moved in and out frequently, the Teflon picked up and held little pieces of grit that scratched the surface. We took these out and replaced them with the "Screw-On Felt Pads X-Protector" pads. Those are working better for protecting this kind of floor. On rugs or carpet, this item worked well for us. It slides easily and won't damage the carpet.
