Kahoot Deluxe Hardwood Scroll Frame, 6-Inch x 12-Inch

Alright...first, I think I've figured out why so many of us had problems with this frame. The fabric slipping, not being able to get good tension, etc. This is because the instructions in the package (which amount to basically just one picture) don't give a good idea of how the fabric is to be wrapped on the slotted sticks. You must have enough excess length so that the fabric wraps around the stick and back over itself at least once, preferably more than once. This is how you are able to get good seating and tension. If you're using a piece of fabric that is just barely larger than the frame itself, you'll never get good tension. In the pictures I have you can see the fabric has been rolled around the stick more than once to cover itself.Finally, the other complaints about unfinished wood and imprecise measuring, etc.are legit. I had to sand down one of the rounded sticks just to get it to fit inside the tension hole, and that was even with me trying to pull the tension holes pieces apart. Not very precise engineering, but...what do you expect for little money?

I prefer using this scroll frame over a hoop, and it's lightweight and easy to assemble. My problem is that even with the wingnuts on their tightest setting, the dowels fall out way too easily, so I have to always be super careful with it. Most of the time when I try to scroll to a new section of the fabric, or even if I bump it with my hand, I have to put it back together.

One star is being generous. This is an inferior product. The cuts in the wood are sloppy and unfinished. It did not hold my fabric tightly. Spend a little more for a better frame.

When I first started needle crafting, I used a hoop. I hated the rings and marks the hoops would leave on the fabric. I went looking for a frame that was adjustable, sturdy, and could keep my fabric clean and taut while I worked. I work on many different sized projects, and often have more than one in progress at any given time, so I bought these frames in every size I could find.Here is a breakdown of the pros and cons I found with this product:PRO1) The frame is very easy to put together.2) The frame is lightweight.3) You can easily adjust the frame to fit your fabric size.4) You can easily adjust the position of the fabric as you work, which is especially helpful with larger images.5) The frame keeps your fabric taut while you work, which helps keep your stitches even.6) I used to put a thin piece of masking tape around the edges of my fabric, but there is no need to with this frame.CON1) If you aren't careful, it is possible for your floss to get stuck or wrapped around the wing nuts that hold the frame together. This is a minor problem and can be fixed by purchasing scroll frame knobs, which would replace the wing nuts ( Hardwood Scroll Frame Knobs-Set Of 4 ). I think the knobs look nicer than the wing nuts anyway.
