This Flashlight Can Save Your Life
I bought this flashlight lantern; totally contained with built in charger, and solar back up. I have it in a South facing window of my house, getting charged by the sun. Tonight I'll find out what a fine job of charging my light, the little solar array did for me. My light came fully charged on Tuesday; and I ordered it on Sunday, I couldn't ask for anything more. I went on line looking for a tactical flashlight, these days everyone's got to have their own tactical flashlight it seems. As I shopped for tactical flashlights on Amazon, I found this reminder of the past, a lantern flashlight combination. I've had many flashlights like this one in the past. Most of the time I would find them is trash cans, at the Good Will, other thrift stores. Once I found a really cool one used by a miner, it was a real miner's lantern flashlight. The unit was made to attach to a miner's helmet. Now with the emergence of LED fluorescent light bulbs, it's nice to see they come in little lantern flashlights, such as this one sold by Knight Inventions. I haven't tried the a/c charger yet, and today I'll find out how well the solar array charged my light. This unit is light as a feather, and very well made of quality materials. I really like the handle on the side of the light, it speaks of the quality which goes into making this light. The selector switch gives the user three choises of high, low, and strobe. It's nice to have a low to make the battery last. I've had this unit a week, and I still haven't totally drained the battery since it came out of the package. This is a very practical light; I keep it on the bed stand at night, it travels with me in the car. I bring the light in with me, when I get home. I feel my flashlight solar lantern by Knight Inventions will be a good companion. In a given dark situation, this light could probably save my life. Keep me from falling off a sidewalk at night in the city, or from walking off a cliff in the mountains. If I should be in a big building at work, and the power should turn off. I would want my flashlight lantern with me, to guide me to safety. When my day time projects run on into the night, this light will give me the light I need. To quickly finish up my work, and go inside safely. I highly recommend The Flashlight Latern by Knight inventions. A dependable source of light when you need it, without having to worry about flashlight batteries, or light bulbs. This unit can easily save your life

Seems good, pretty pleased with it after four months
Tested charging with both solar and AC methods and all seems to function as needed. I am worried that the solar cell was rotating as I removed the protective plastic film, would not want this to affect the internal wiring. The area light modes are very bright, the flashlight beam is focused in the middle more than I expected for a lantern but will still meet my needs. Design seems okay but wish the workmanship was a little more robust, has a very lightweight feel to it.Update January 2016- I've been dog sitting for a few weeks and this light has been used on a daily basis for nighttime walks. The flashlight is very bright and the focused beam that I commented on previously actually worked well for looking under bushes for other animals. One concern I wanted to mention is that the output of the flashlight drops quite a bit after a half hour or so. Not sure how long it operates before another drop in output. Unfortunately the initial drop takes the flashlight from "impressive" to "average". I have two of these flashlights and the photo shows the output of a fully charged unit compared to one that has about an hour of run time. I have a number of tactical flashlights that maintain the rated output far longer before a drop and perhaps this one is not modulated to the same degree.Update #2 Jan 2016- I compared my two units side by side for a three hour test. The suspect unit had low output while the other one ran strong the entire time. Extremely fast shipment of a replacement unit from the seller, so service after the sale has been exceptional.

Fantastic emergency light for camping or home use.
I'm extremely happy with this light, enough so that I purchased two more as gifts. The main one I bought as a gift for my dad who has a large boat, having this solar-charged light on the dash means it is always ready. The flashlight part is brighter than I expected (I have some exceptionally bright LED lights, so I wasn't expecting much from this one), and the two upper lights are both very bright and nicely diffused. I would say that running just the single side would be enough to light an entire tent, both sides is almost overkill unless you are reading.I'm sure there are those who would complain about the quality of the build, but you are buying a very inexpensive product that works exceptionally well . . . and needs to be really light to hike with and hang in a tent. Yes, it is all plastic . . . but if it wasn't it would cost 5 times as much and be harder to carry/hang.Surprisingly, it has a built-in transformer (it just plugs in with a removable cord you could buy at Radio Shack), and it takes about the same amount of time to charge by plugging it into the wall as it takes to charge in the sun.A note about the manufacturer: this has a lifetime warranty (but it is not written on the package) on everything including the rechargeable battery!!! I had one light with a bad switch, and when I e-mailed them they immediately sent out a replacement light the same day and I had it two days later. Their customer service is pretty fantastic for such an inexpensive item. I realize that a lifetime warranty will only last as long as the company is in business, but if they keep making products like this with support this good I suspect they will be in business a long time.
