Tell Me More v10 French - 10 Levels

Have studied French off and on for years, thought I'd buy something comprehensive to review. Tried Rosetta- meh. I bought this and a PC to run it (doesn't run on Apple). Expensive, yes? Don't bother. Speech recognition is buggy and their help services don't. Portions of speech recognition work, other portions in same exercise do not. Too much money for something that doesn't work- like buying a car that starts half the time. About all I received for my money was the chance to warn you away. Teaching method is suspect- asks questions that you could not know from the program. Having tried both this and Rosetta, I would say Yabla is VASTLY superior to them as a tool for learning language. I truly regret having purchased this product.

In fact, I have signed up for an online version of Tell Me More through Rosetta Stone, which is called Rosetta Stone Premium.The product is comparable in scope and quality with learning materials used in traditional courses, with the advantage that you can choose what you study and you get the interactive multimedia experience.A huge downside is its speech recognition engine. I have used the regular Rosetta Stone product for years, and the speech recognition was mostly excellent.I have a broadband Internet connection, and my computer is still one of the best on the market.However, I have* tried using all of the headsets I have with Tell Me More* set up each headset according to Tell Me More's speech recognition troubleshooting guide* bought a high quality dynamic microphone just for use with Tell Me MoreI have lived in Paris, and my French pronunciation is excellentBut in about 65% of the cases, I have to repeat what I say 20 to 40 times, and I often get a message that Tell Me More can't recognize what I'm saying and that I should properly set up the microphone, even though it is a high quality microphone, and it is set up correctly.I have tried this with a native French speaker as well, with no better results.The quality of speech recognition is simply appalling. I would give the product 1 star, if it was not for the other content and functionality.
