Covert Cabinets are made in America. They can hang on any wall in any room in your home or office. Items can be placed on the shelves and left there. Items on the shelf will not interfere with your access to firearms or other valuables. Locks, latches and hinges are hidden from view with no indication that they are present when the compartment is closed. The compartment drops down from under the shelf. The interior lock is magnetic that requires a magnetic key to access, which of course is included. The storage compartment does not simply drop open, spilling things when you activate the magnetic lock to open. The hinges operate smoothly using a "Stabilus" dampener gas spring. However, the hinges do operate quickly giving you immediate access to what is inside. The shelving blends into any décor so they are not the focal point that catches the eye. Subdued and yet allowing things to be hidden in plain sight, making them the ideal "secret" storage place that allows quick access to your firearms.

Great concept lousy execution!
The actual woodwork is nice (enough), but then everything goes downhill from there. The 1st time I opened it, one of the hinge screws popped out of the wood, the screw had stripped the hole. The back is supposed to have (2) pre-drilled holes 16" on center, it didn't! It is easy to understand why, the back of the shelf that is screwed to the wall is only 16" wide! It is hard to put a hole in the outside edge of a piece of wood. (No matter what you do, you are only going to hit one stud)Another review mentioned the shelf not opening properly; this is true. I had to cut a bevel on the bottom back to fix it. Please note that without the bevel every time you open it, the lower shelf prys at the upper fixed shelf; this will damage the wall and loosen the screws. I also installed longer (better) screws to hold the hinges.All-in-all I made it work... because I have some decent woodworking skill and the tools to do it.Would I buy it again? NO! It is a great concept poorly executed.

Looks great and works great. Handy safety device.
Like other reviews, there are no pre-drilled holes and a hinge was stripped. Neither was a problem. It is better to pre-drill once you find the studs, my holes aren’t exact as I wanted the shelf centered. The wall screws provided are heavy duty. The stripped hinge screw isnt a problem since the back is against the wall. I put a longer larger screw in both hinges. The instructions are insufficient, but it is a no brainer—take it apart to install easier. The little end of the knob is the magnet. I had it upside down at first ans was frustrated. It looks great and works great.

Great design and included the foam and everything
This was a White Elephant gift for big family Christmas exchange, and it was a smashing hit! I am going to have to get one for myself now! Great design and included the foam and everything.

Excellent wood work but it's stubborn to get open
Excellent wood work but it's stubborn to get open. You have to push up on the bottom in order for it to open. If you want to get to your gun quickly i wouldn't go with this

Good for In Plain Sight concealment
Lock engaged intermittently, but product is good and I will order again but ensure lock releases more easily.
