Good fun, limited mod's and parts availability
I was looking for a crawler and after watching various videos of different scales I settled on the 5th scale Maxstone. Price was also a big factor, as I was not sure how much I would use it. I was not after fast as I find going in a circle and over the occasional jump just boring; so, crawler it was. The Maxstone 5 is the first crawler and only 5th scale I've ever owned. That being said, I think it crawls incredibly well even with the stock tires that many folks in the videos complain about. However, I am sure like a real vehicle the type of rock and conditions matter a great deal. In Arizona, it's almost always hot and rubber is almost always sticky!Pros:It's fairly inexpensive for what it is.It crawls very well. The articulation is crazy and can twist through some really tight spots. It is very easy to use.The stock shocks are adjustable as well as linkage positions allowing for height adjustment for various terrain.I've had good battery life with the stock battery, I've driven it around my back yard for over a 1/2 hour many times and it still goes. I bought 2 extra batteries with my purchase to keep on crawling.Cons:No Tamiya battery connections. I cut the factory "banana connectors" and put on Tamiya's because it's pretty much the standard in the US.The provided charger is a joke, buy a quick charger with your purchase. The shear pins on the axles can fall out as indicated on YouTube. I used a little electrical tape around the axle to cover the pins before I ever took it outside and have had no problems. The stock servo's are weak when under load with the nose down or in a tight spot trying to reposition for a different approach to the next rock. Stronger servo's are on my list of "to get" items. It should come with the front bumper to protect the steering linkage. The 1/8 scale bumper bolts right on as it's the same axle. The screws are not provided with the bumper!Without 4 wheel steering it has a big turning radius which can make tight spots....well tight.limited parts availability is probably the worst thing I've come across. I would like to go to 4 wheel steering but the stock parts have been out of stock since purchase.I have not looked outside the stock part availability for what might work for the 4 wheel steering but I will find them or make them. All in all, I think it's great entry level fun with a capable crawler at a fair price.

Wheels fell off, turn radious is awefull, keeps having problems NO PARTS AVAILABLE
I have not run my vehicle very often. There is always something broken. As in, I have run it about four times. I can not find parts to fix it.IT WAS A TOTAL WASTE OF MONEY!I find it amusing that people speak well of this thing. This is the cheapest made, worst RC I have ever owned.Oh, the seller is always out of parts. I have logged in for years. They are always out of the parts for this vehicle.

Awesome rig! Huge!!! Great deal.
So, love hate relationship with this guy. Love the upgrade ability but theres not alot of upgrades offered (in stock that is) no metal gear replacements and from what I've heard and seen the gears are all plastic. Possibly one steel gear, but they will strip if abused. I have had no gear issues on a 2s lipo running rear staring, and all hop up parts for the redcat clawback (From rhc.com.) best deal I found and fitment was great. Cant find most replacement parts as they're out if stock. But do some digging and you'll find something compatible somewhere. I will update if and when I find all steel gears that work. And I reccomend getting stronger servos and rear wheel steering to really see what this thing can do.

Not worth it. Broken.
I expected way better quality, most of this piece of crap is made of plastic. And very very very weak plastic at that. Don't waste your money on this guy. Not worth it at all. It broke on me after not even 5 mins I swear to God! POS!

Tough truck for the money
My favorite crawler by far. My 6 year old has several high end RCs. He has a XXMax, Redcat Clawback, Losi XL and Axial. I am constantly repairing them. This Exceed truck is not considered a "Top of the line" company by the internet know it alls yet it has been tough to break. I am surprized at the build quality for the money. My kid has had it in deep mud and driven it under water numerous times. Since Xmas he has used it almost daily. The only thing I have had to do is put a piece of tape on each of the hub to hold the retaining pin in. It is not captured nor grooved for an o-ring. Gears still mesh, servo still gtg. Running it on 2s Lipo with a 4$ buzzer. No other mods. FYI: These come with the absolute best crawling tire on the market. They are grippier than any other aftermarket tires I have on my crawlers. Too bad they are never in stock....

Very Disappointed
Straight out of the box there were problems , there were bolts missing out of the battery box, no big deal found bolts that would work and let it charge. Once I started using it I noticed the front differential didn't sound like it was right. The crawler never left the house and I'm having to tear down the diff, diff gears are stripped either bearings were left out or the fit and finish of the parts wasn't right in the first place. Now the great news you can't find parts, anywhere! Save your money. This maybe an isolated incident. I read the reviews before I purchased. But the fact is I have a $300 crawler that ran for 15 mins. Buyer beware.

Super fun crawler
Super fun crawler. Excellent price. I did change the color & put a Redcat truck body on it. I added some skid plates to protect the motors & bottom areas. I added a servo on the rear axle to make it rear steering. This crawler is HUGE! Make sure to loctite the screws because, they will come loose. Some parts have been out of stock for a long time. See it in action on YT-- Maxstone 5 at Columbia Park Torrance, Ca.
