Very sensitive, but works well.
Works as advertised. I will say the detector is VERY sensitive. If you use aerosol cleaners (Goof Off for example) to wash paint or adhesive off your hands near one of these detectors (i keep one in my garage near the furnace) it will set it off.We had one next to our gas stove, and if we left the oven door open a little too long when mixing something we were baking, it was liable to pick up a reading.I dont consider this sensitivity a flaw, sometimes its a bit of a nuisance, but usually just means you need to unplug it and air out the area a bit before plugging back in.

JEMBMJ Gas Leak Detectors
I bought these gas leak detectors after we fat a scare last year. It gives me a peace of mind. The digital read out is amazing. The instructions were easy to follow. The size of the detector is ideal. The alarm noise level is not too overwhelming. No battery is needed because it is plugged into an outlet. The product is durable and I would suggest any homeowner to purchase a set.

A great $20 investment
This is an LEL meter (lower explosive limit) I used LEL meters in industry for years to look for dangerous situations. For $20 this is a really inexpensive item to assure safety in your home. An LEL would also detect a gasoline leak in your garage, or if your propane tank began to leak.I have mixed feelings about it being 120VAC, as it would not work in a power outage; BUT, it has no batteries to discharge and render the unit useless.I also have smoke detectors, a CO (carbon monoxide) meter, as well as these two new LEL meters. Better safe than sorry!!!

False Alarms
I can't recommend this product based on my experience. Plugged it into the kitchen, near our stove and oven. Everything appeared to be working fine for the first couple months. Then, one day, it began beeping nearly every time we baked something. We became worried we had a leak, so we checked every connection for bubbles with soapy water but could not identify the source of any leak. The alarm would usually stop beeping within a minute or two and then go back down to either 0, 1 or 2 and stay there for hours. Then the next time we turned on the oven, the reading would again jump to level 3 or 4 and the beeping would start over for a few minutes. We continued searching for a leak and couldn't find one. Eventually, the alarm started going off at random times, even when we were sure there could not be any gas in the room. At one point I breathed on it, and the gas reading level jumped to a 6 and the alarm went nuts for several seconds. As a final test, we moved a different gas detector into the kitchen where this one was and moved this one into our utility room, where the other detector had previously been plugged in. The new detector in the kitchen consistently showed 0 and detected no gas. However, this detector now consistently showed levels of gas in the utility room between 2 and 3, with the alarm sounding periodically throughout the day and night. This was odd because the other detector had never beeped once over the several months it had been in the utility room. I checked every gas connection in that room for leaks and eventually had an HVAC company come and do the same. Like me, they couldn't find any. We concluded that this detector is malfunctioning and giving false alarms. Of course, I'm about 2 months past the return window on the product, so it looks like I've simply wasted my money.
