DON'T BUY THIS
Removed tomato from package the green threads immediately began slipping off. Tomato body is stuffed with plastic that makes it hard for the needle to slip in and out of without using both hands to steady the cushion and pull the needle out. Pretty much defeats the entire purpose. Also, it wasn't clear to me that I would get any one of three different colors.

Wrong color, join the club!
Like so many people before me (didn’t think I needed to read reviews for a pin cushion...lesson learned), I ordered purple and got a different color - blue...which, is LIKE purple, but with no red in it.

Pins Left Dull & Sticky
I've sewn for 70 years. I purchased this as a replacement for my junior high pin cushion from 1960. My new very sharp, very expensive pins were made in Germany from quality materials. After being in this pin cushion a couple of months, they all became dull & sticky. I wonder if the filling of these cushions is made of ground-up pine which would explain the sticky resin-like coating on them. I managed to clean it off a few pins by repeatedly sticking them into the strawberry, but I don't have time to do that to all the pins. I'll have to purchase more pins - and throw this rotten tomato into the garbage!

To the people that see the warning label
Bigger than I thought but like that it is.Yes it must state my cause cancer but the reason behind it is as followed. CA makes everyone worry about little things, and make mountain out of molehills.Emery is an abrasive mineral. It is used to make sand paper, emery boards for polishing finger nails, and in other industrial processes( polishing rice). One thing that the CA rule is talking about is saw dust. Some wood's dust can cause cancer. Also pressure treated wood saw dust does contain chemicals that are harmful. However, in polishing a pin or needle in the strawberry probably keeps all of the dust in the strawberry. So unlike a floor sanding machine you won't have lots of dust to deal with. This results in a very tiny risk or probably none. This is a case of over warning. It would be interesting to see the justification for putting a warning on a pin cushion.

I love my pink pumpkin
It's about the size of a small pumpkin. Here it is with about 200 or so pins. I need the super-sized pin cushion because I do costuming along with clothing and I usually run out of pins in the middle of a large project or three smaller ones. This cushion is large and bright pink so I can see it when it's actively trying to hide from me. "There you are! Under all that fake fur and lace! Hah!" I can even spot it without my bifocals. Not bad. All it's missing is that little sac of emery powder but I can make one shaped like a mouse. Then I can make a diorama of it pulling the magic pumpkin to the ball...Any way here are two photos of the pink beast. It's about five and half inches and three-ish.

I like the large size; it holds quite a few pins
I needed a new pin cushion. My dog (who is on prednisone for a medical condition and who thus eats all sorts of things she shouldn't) got ahold of my last one. (Don't worry, she didn't eat any pins! But she did eat the strawberry part and do some other damage. It is over a year later and she is fine!)I like the classic tomato pin cushions so I bought this one. I wanted one that was on the larger side and this had the diameter I was looking for. I put about 150 pins in it last night and there is plenty of room for more.It is basically well made, with no loose threads or anything. No parts look like they are going to become detached. If you are obsessive about symmetry, though, this may bother you. The six sections around the sides of mine were not the same size because the green dividers were not evenly spaced. They didn't match up with the indentations in the star-shaped piece of green fabric on top as in the product image. Since this is a functional object and not decorative, I'm not going to get bent out of shape about it.

If nothing else this is a great conversation piece
A few months ago I got to looking at my ratty old red tomato pin cushion and thinking I could use something new. I don't do a lot of town shopping for a number of reasons so I decided to come here and look for a new pin cushion and possibly some new pins to go with it (I've been using my old stuff for over forty years by now). Anyway, I saw this, looked closely at the picture and read all the reviews and decided I just had to try it. So here are my thoughts:Pros: Very thick, sturdy fabric and the cording is thick and strong. The stem is made from thick felt. The bead deco gives it a nice touch but once you get pins on it doesn't really add that much. And seriously, if you've no other use for it just leave it on an end or coffee table because it makes a great conversation piece.Pro-Con-what-have-you is its size. On the one hand it's great but on the other hand it's a bit over-done. Some people say it's more like a pumpkin but I say nay, it's just about the size of a beefsteak tomato. I love that it's large enough I can poke big needles and long pins into it without worrying about them going through. It's also large enough that it isn't the easiest to handle, but its stem does make for a nice pick-up device.Cons: I really can't think of anything that's a complete downside, unless it's the possibility that needles could get forever lost in here if they were stuck in with no thread.

Variable color
I was looking to replace my lost pin cushion and intentionally selected the one that was red (tomatoes and strawberries are red). I received it yesterday and it is bright blue, so I checked the order, not because it will be less functional, or that I don't like blue (because I do), but because I thought I ordered a red tomato/strawberry, and found in the description (not the image) that I might receive a blue tomato/strawberry. So I went by the image and made a mistake. That is on me, but you really should show what you are going to send.

This is a large pincushion!
This was much larger than I expected and the quality is very good. It will easily hold many pins and is a good weight, it doesn't slide around too much as you extract and replace the pins (and won't move at all if on a disc of anti-slip plastic).

Fabulous pin cushion
Gorgeous pin cushion. It’s huge and soft so it easy to put pins into while you’re sewing. After many years of sewing, I have to say this is the best pincushion I’ve ever seen or used. I have about a hundred or more pins in mine as well as needles on one side and a bundle of safely pins on the other side. It’s good for everything, is well-made and is also very attractive - a treat for the eyes.
