Great for a "need a mic in a pinch" situations.
It took me a few tries (and phones) to get this to work as it was intended. No fault of the microphone, just not all my phones I had laying around seemed compatible. Once I finally found a proper phone I was off to the races. Not the actual races, mind you. I settled on a paid voice recording app, and couldn't be more pleased. So far, I am using this as a poor mans portable lav mic, and making sure my audio is synced during editing. It has been tremendously helpful, allowing my recordings to be that much better as the audio is leaps and bounds better than the built in mic my camera has. I will continue using this mic until I can afford a proper audio setup. The clip secures quite well to the shirt of whomever I need to record, and the cord is long enough that I can route to the back pocket of the pants. So far, the mic has been outstanding. It may take a few tries to find a phone that works, and the recording app is only as good as its designer. Do some research first, and save yourself the headache.

If performance ability was the metric for price point, this mic would cost 100x more.
This is a lovely little lavelier microphone. It functions as described and then some. The price belies the quality of the microphone as one would assume that it's a cheap, almost disposable unit that'll work for a NY minute and then end up in the dust bin. Not so. It's well constructed and mine already has about 20 hours of multiple utilizations on it ranging from about five minutes to a mini-marathon of about 2.5 hours recording. I'm a semi-pro musician/recording engineer/instrument and amp technician and I've used the mic to record everything from conversations (with mutual consent of course to various music and music gear related activities. I purchased an extension cable which tripled the usefulness of the mic and used my ever present iPhone as the recording device. Once transferred into my DAW, I can listen to my recordings via my near field monitors and use the recordings as a "data" source to accomplish the required task at hand. I doubt the designers had some of my requirements in mind when they developed this handy little mic, but it's paid for itself by a couple of orders of magnitude in the last month or so. My experience is unsatisfactory.
My ipod touch 4th gen and this thing do not go well together. Its WAY TOO LOUD at about 1 foot from my face. With my NIKON D3200 it does not work well. No matter what adjustment i have the mic input at its not good quality. With the iPhone 4 it does not work well (too loud). With the ipad mini 2 it simply does not work. I believe i recieved a dud. I am unhappy with this product. Im not into writing reviews like this but man. I have nothing good to say about it... even the bag that it comes in is falling apart. Where the velcro sticks, the material is ripping because the velcro is too strong. As for the stitching around the bag, that is well done... The clip that holds the mic is also strong.. So those are good things.. But CHECK OUT THE PICTURES CAREFULLY. The first three images (before the bag) of this product are a different product than the last three (after the bag). Notice that the wire mesh that shows on the first three is a finer mesh and that the slots that are cut out to expose the mesh are beveled around the edges. The last three images are the product i received. The mesh is less cooler looking than the first images and the build quality is different than the first three images... Im getting the feeling that the mic you receive is a knock off of the first three images. Be advised there precisely two different items being shown in this sale. I understand they are similar but they are not the same. Good luck guys, its possible im one of the few that just received a dud but... ick.. me no like.

What little usable audio I did get from it was great quality though so it clearly works
I just can't bring myself to give this a stellar review. The mic is so sensitive that even with the gain on my phone's recording app(s) turned all the way down the audio is still clipping (maxing out). I do not own an iphone so I can't confirm how it works on an apple product but one my old android (galaxy s3) the audio is unusable. On the newer phone (galaxy s5) as long as I don't get to carried away the audio is okay. What little usable audio I did get from it was great quality though so it clearly works, it is just too sensitive to work well with my phones.Also, yes I did try this with several different recording apps ranging from the basic ones to some of the better rated and feature packed recording apps. Nothing was able to drop the gain far enough to keep this little guy from clipping.

Basic microphone, useful, nothing to shout about.
Basic mic, does not work on every device, but works well on my iPad.

Ultimate Lavalier Mic
This is a super buy at the price tag. Came with a nice little bag which makes it easy to have along on the go. It works fine for the iPhone haven't tried it for a Samsung yet.Please not it is for an iPhone or Samsung it wont work with your Windows 10 machine if you try to plug it into the mic jack. Windows doesn't recognize the mic.
