I absolutely love this gesso!
I absolutely love this heavy gesso! I had previously only used regular liquitex gesso which is more thin, fluid, runny. I use this heavy gesso in art journaling either to cover pages or just for blending in white. It is so nice, thick and creamy. Iβm obsessed and recently bought my second jar becusse I use it so much and donβt want to run out.

Nice, heavy gesso
Great coverage and not at all runny or drippy. It can spread thin or you can get it on nice and thick. Dries quickly for gesso (if you're impatient, dry it with a blow dryer). It doesn't make thin paper too wet and adds nice strength to a surface. In the photo, you can see what a quick spread with a credit card can do.Definitely met my crafting needs! I do wish it came in a larger size.

Watercolors on Gesso, on multiple surfaces: it works!
I've never used gesso before so I can't really give any kind of comparison, but it works. My only complaint is that it is incredibly hard to get a nice, even, streak-free surface if you don't sand afterwards. I've never sanded anything in my life that wasn't my nails π π π But! I really wanted to gesso my watercolor tin, and after 4 coats and liberal sanding with fine sandpaper from the Dollar store, it worked! It even worked wonderfully in (and on!) my Mixed Media sketchbook. I've been putting it all over the place lolWatercolor performance on the gesso is a little weird, though. I don't know if that's because I'm a novice, or because it took me forever to figure out how to get the surface smooth, but lifting is EXTREMELY easy with this. It doesn't "stain" (for lack of a better word) or absorb the way it does on regular 140lb paper, cotton or otherwise. You have to be a little more patient with your placement of paint, but it does allow for much more translucent layering. It took some adjusting to.Overall, not bad at all! It does what I want it to, where I want it to. Just be mindful that it's not exactly like working with watercolor paper, and that this stuff goes quick! I wish it came in a bigger size.

Fills dimples on rocks well and allows for smooth painting
The rocks I was painting were just not smooth enough to my liking. Someone on a FB group recommended this Heavy Gesso. It works like a charm. Much better than just the two coats of white paint. It is heavy, sure enough--the consistency of pudding, but still brushes on nicely. It does fill dimples well and allows for nice smooth painting. I chose to use two coats. I will definitely be keeping this on hand.

Prima Marketing Art Basics Heavy Gesso works great for Cardmaking
I love the thickness of the Heavy Gesso. Haven't used any other Gesso this thick. Unfortunately I design cards for a living and will need to order about 30 more bottles of this!!!
