Wheeler-Rex 16010 Pipe Hog Kit with Extension Shaft

I have this item and I have used it a number of times. This is a very good tool and has a number of positives and a couple of negatives.First the negatives because I like to end on the positives and this tool deserves to leave the potential buyer with positives. The biggest drawback is price. This is quite expensive to save a $3 or $4 fitting. As a result, this tool is primarily made for a plumber or a do-it-yourself person that is doing some considerable rework in plumbing.The next negative is that the extension has a set screw that uses a flat bladed screwdriver to tighten. The regular screw head poses a problem as the flat bladed screw heads tend to tear out unless you have the exact correct screwdriver. I replaced this set screw with a allen wrench head set screw. I am much happier with this arrangement. It is really not that big a deal to change but these are the kinds of touches of design that moves me between 4 and 5 stars for a product.The final negative is only a half negative, When you use this tool you will notice that the hole will be just slightly larger than what you would experience with a new fitting. As a result, some planning should be done when re-gluing the attached pipe. It may need to be held in place a little longer than for a normal piece. I tend to glue and give a couple of hours for the glue to cure. This may not be required but doing has always resulted in good results.The positives is that this tool really does what it proposes to do and does it with some ruggedness and versatility. It comes with an extension and it has all of the sizes that would be seen in a normal residential plumbing system. 4 inch for below slab plumbing, 3 inch for toilets, 2 inch for showers and 1-1/2 inch for sinks and vanities.The next positives is that the tool has replaceable cutters. IF they should dull three screws and three new cutters make it like new again.The fact that this set is in a plastic case is real win. The plastic case is a nice professional case and ALMOST allowed me to move this product back to 5 stars from 4 stars but I just thought that the price was too high to justify the set screw.I have now picked apart this product from a real picky perspective. At the end of the day, this product is in my tool set and I enjoy using it. That should be as much of an endorsement as anything. I am not a professional plumber but I remodel houses and sometimes that results in plumbing re-work and unintended plumbing lines cuts where I need this tool to save a lot more headaches. I highly recommend this tool.

The order was incomplete. Only received a shaft. Fully expectd the entire kit, totally dissappointed.
