Size:1 LB This might be one of the world's healthiest foods. So healthy in fact, that a constantly increasing number of informed consumers, physicians and researchers around the world, are calling Yellow Turmeric; The Miracle Medicinal Spice. Not only does it contain a healthy serving of iron and manganese, Cur-cumin the active ingredient in turmeric.

It was intersting experiment with this root and here is my report..
It arrived very reasonably packaged in a white envelope that had corners cut for air circulationthat was a huge plus as when I saw envelope at first I was worrying that the content might havemold but since there was air for breathing this was not the case and no mold was present. It was wrapped in some protective paper but also loosely so it could breath. Another plus.Big bravo for logical packaging.I can buy non organic turmeric in my local Whole Foods but I wanted organic and somehowthey never have organic root so this was my choice.I would prefer if this particular root would have certificate that is truly organic as otherwiseit is hard to be sure if it is organic indeed and I don't know if there is a test that onecould perform at home to know for sure if something is truly organic.Regardless, this turmeric smells good and tastes very fresh. It is on a thin side but then again, this was my first time I purchased fresh root andi did not know what to expect. It is about the thickness of my fingers and comesin exact variety from as think as pinky to as thick as a thumb and with everythingin between. As someone stated previously that translates into considerable waste as itpeels sort of like ginger, althugh skin less tough an don a carrot side.but once you pill it there is considerable waste. This is not much a problembut rather advice that if you need a lot of it t hen buy with a considerationthat abotu 1/3 or so goes into a waste. I bought the smallest amount theyoffer to first see and try if it is any good for me and it worked butit ended up being really not that much after peeling.I was very happy to get a fresh root as at first I wanted to go with dryone that I used to add to hot milk to ward of colds and warm up bodyfrom the inside but then I decided to use raw thinking it will havemore potential for healing. Now if you ever bought raw turmeric then you know what you are in,but if this is your first time like myself for raw turmeric you are in fora funny surprise. First of all, the fresh turmeric does not tasteexactly as the dry one, they smell the same but fresh one is muchmore gentle on the tang, It is not so .. "spicy" and does not burnin any way. it sort of tastes like a carrot that comes iwth the greentop and if you bit it on the exact top where the orange part meetsthe green part.. that is about how it tastes plus a little of adistinct taste that it is just turmeric that is a bit of a ginger incharacter, and the texture is of a little young potatoe..so it is an interesting combination of roots.. sort ofginger meets potato meets carrot. Here is what it seemed to work for.. :someone in a family had a mild kidney inflamation -other had gallbladder pain, another person hada gum inflammation...It seemed to take care of this and more. The way we used it was few fold..One way was to make a smple tea by boilingtwo cups of water and adding about an inch or twoof sliced and chopped turmeric and bringing to boil, turn off, let sit , smash it in the water with potatoemasher hahaha yeah, for releasing all the goodies..and then sipped while still hot.Another way we enjoyed was to do the same teabut adding five or six cubes of organic candiedginger from Whole Foods. That was even moredelicous but beware of sugar on the gingeras in some condition sugar is not recommended.Another way and that was surrpisingly nice, was to maximize the benefits of the rootand not to kill anything by any processing...Just cut into cubes and chew and suck on itand then just ate it.. It was surprisingly nicefeeling. I was fearing it will be to spicy or yackybut it was okay and nice. First piece feelsbit weird as you eat raw carrot and potatoemixed together but once you pass through thisit tastes fine. And you want more :).I don't know how safe it is to eat a lot of itbut I assume the same amoutn that peoplerecommend for tea should be safe so as others suggestedI did about 1 inch per session and did three times a day.It seemed work nicely. It seemed that it addressed all key problems helpingto relax and heal inflamations over two three day periodgiving almost immediate pain reieving after each drinkingof a hot tea as seems that the heat in combination withactive ingredients in the root might been working somemagic. It repeated after every time pain would appearand tea would be drenk so that must have been helping. It would help with a pain and bring comforting changelasting hours and the pain woudl get smaller with everysession of tea.Added bonus was the brain fog removal. It was probalbydue to inflamation going on elsweher int he body butthe brain felt also certain degree of inflamation andit was very obvious that turmeric was clearing it very nicely. That was something that came as a nice surprise. Please be mindful that I often mixed the turmeric andginger in our uses so i can not attest to just turmeric action alonebut I would say that it is definitely working as at first I was usingjust turmeric and the same results seemed happening.I will be buying more from this seller although I would really behappier if they could get certified. For now I go by the factthat this turmeric seem small and natural as opposed togenerally beauitufl and perfect items that are never organicand are too beautiful to be true so the little inferior appearanceof this root might in fact be supporting the fact that it isnaturally grown, sort of like the hairloom tomatotes arenever perfect and look bit rough.Good luck and blessings to all.

This turmeric from California is healthy and orange and much larger than in my health food store. However, ...
This turmeric from California is healthy and orange and much larger than in my health food store.Loved it except for the fact that despite following all instructions several pieces became quite limp and pliable with a an off-taste.Wonder if it was previously frozen?

Fresh and potent turmeric.
A friend told me I would get more benefit from whole raw turmeric fingers and WOW, I am sold. I ended up grating about a half of one in about 30 ozs of water, boiling it, then adding my tea of choice. I add enough tea to dilute the result to a larger quantity that gives me about a 2-day supply. The result is the richest red/orange color, and I feel I am getting far more benefit out of this daily turmeric tea drink than the dry powdered, light orange product I have been buying. The package arrived with fat, moist fingers which are keeping well in the refrigerator so far. Whenever possible I prefer to bypass pills or powders and obtain the benefits ot the whole, natural product.

Choose another source
Choose another source. I buy turmeric all the time. I juice it and add it to boiling water. I have never received my turmeric with a label asking me not to call it too rancid and decomposing but it IS horrible quality. That's a quarter in my tubby with the turmeric for size comparison. It is too small and flimsy as opposed to firm. 0 stars is more accurate, it's half rotten. And I think a lot of the 5 star reviews are fake, they come in tides after a bunchanged if 1 star reviews that day the same thinh. It's rotten, black, and mostly unusable...

Please change packaging
These were great except I wish they had come wrapped in paper instead of plastic I had to toss several right away because they were deteriorating. There were a lot of small pieces but they work just as well as the larger ones so I’m fine with that.

Delicious turmeric root!
It arrives fast and fresh! I love using this to make golden tea. It tastes SO much better than using powder plus no grit. And I'm sure it's healthier for you being the natural turmeric root instead of a processed powder. Give it a try! You'll never go back to using the powder again!

Thumbs up
Good quality product. Arrived super fast. I'm a happy customer. I use this in my water kefir, along with ginger root, as a secondary ferment, to allow the kefir grains help the two roots be more bio-available. Haven't done any scientific studies to know for sure if it's working, but it tastes great as an alternative to ordinary water kefir :)
