I want to love this product so much, but I just can't... KumbaCam, please fix these issues???
3/5/2016 EDIT:I'm going to preface this with the fact that I really really REALLY want to love this product. When it works, the footage I get using my Nexus 6p simply can't be beat. However, since I've started trying to capture incredible footage by using this product on a nearly daily basis during my global travels, some more flaws have become abundantly clear to me...First and foremost, I have to calibrate this on a nearly weekly basis in an attempt to eliminate that drift I was mentioning in my previous review listed below. This is incredibly annoying when I'm trying to capture a timelapse when I'm walking in a straight line and I want to just have the camera face forward and focus on one point. It's impossible for me to get a good shot in this manner. I also included a screenshot of the calibration software that I need to frequently use to temporarily fix that drift -- notice the name of the software? I also included a picture of the gimbal itself. See that marking, "Z1-Smooth-C" down there? Do an Amazon search for the Zhiyun Z1-Smooth-C and let the fact that they're identical products with a ~$150 price difference sink in -- they're literally the same thing... Perhaps Kumba cam is including some additional components? But it doesn't seem to be the case...So I mentioned that I'm taking that trip around the world and wanted to capture incredible footage, right? Well, before I left, I also went ahead and went to the KumbaCam website to also purchase the telescoping 4-ft extension stick. This telescoping stick was clearly designed to be integrated with the KumbaCam stabilizer, but there's another absolutely terrible flaw with it -- when it's screwed in fully, the gimbal ends up being situated at a 90 degree angle offset from where it should be. Of course, unscrewing it slightly fixes that issue, but the looseness that's introduced by not having it screwed in all the way is troublesome, since the stabilizer itself becomes more prone to rotating during recording. Here's my final gripe about the product, but not something I'm going to necessarily fault them for. When attempting to use a larger 6 inch device, you must use the counter-weight. One of the disadvantages of using the counterweight, though, is that the additional space that gets added on causes you to end up missing out on the full range of motion the device would otherwise offer if you were using a lighter/smaller device. I can't really fault them for that though, as this product seems to have been designed + manufactured during a time when these larger devices weren't out on the market yet. Still something worthwhile to note, though.KumbaCam/Zhiyun -- like I mentioned before, I really want to love your product more. It has so much potential and when it does work, things are absolutely amazing!! You know it, the other people reviewing it on Amazon know it, and I know it. Hell, if you released a newer model that was designed around larger phones in mind that gives you the full range of motion, uses tighter calibration to fix those drift issues, and fixed the manufacturing flaw with the telescoping extension pole, I'd probably be one of the first ones to purchase that new model. Until then, though, I can't recommend this product to anyone :-(-----------------------------I've been using this stabilizer for awhile now, and have seemingly had my fair share of good, mediocre, and bad experiences with it. When I received it, It was working great, though recording the video refused to be level due to some manufacturing thing. After a week of use, whenever I'd try to go into interview mode (where it locks into one position) the device would start to cause my video to drift to the left. I reached out to KumbaCam for both issues, and they advised that I calibrate it and that it would fix all issues. They made me use this (somewhat confusing) software, but I was able to calibrate the device again to eliminate the leftwards drift in the video. My videos are still taken in a non-level, crooked state, though. When I pressed this issue, and provided photos of the components that **should** be parallel, but were indeed bent, I was advised over and over again that I just needed to calibrate the device again... But that's not my problem, guys... I received a defective unit with a bent part... Eventually they never got back to me, and now I'm stuck with an expensive stabilizer that takes beautiful, stabilized, and slightly crooked videos :-(

Excellent Product
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. This is a really well-made product. It eliminates almost any shaking and smooths out your shots. My kids have really started to get into sports and I wanted to capture their moments. Previously, I'd done a pretty good job of training myself to absorb bumps while recording, but camera shake is inevitable. I'm just starting to get a few recordings with the KumbaCam under my belt but I can immediately tell the difference.Just a couple of notes:- Sometimes it starts up with the iPhone upside down. I'm not sure exactly why, but I just manually adjust it and it sets correctly. Maybe I need to hold it at a certain angle when it starts up?- While it's not extremely difficult to get started with, the instructions and illustrations could certainly be clearer. A couple misspellings ("rock" when they meant to say "lock"), incorrect and unclear references (completed battery charge says the light turns green but it actually turns blue), and things which don't make sense at all (mentions of "click here" like it was meant for the web).- I was able to connect and use the bluetooth shutter fob once, but now I can't seem to connect it at all. The instructions are similarly unclear. There's a prominent note to search for an app in the App Store, but you don't actually need it to use the shutter. A future improvement would be to provide this connectivity on the stabilizer itself.- Don't call this a selfie stick—that's just a marketing gimmick for the wrong reasons. Just my 2 cents.- Adding the ability to lock it when it's collapsed would be a nice improvement. Right now the various arms just swing loosely. But those are just nit-picking because it's a fantastic product right out of the box. I've included a simple and short video of it in action with me climbing over a guard rail. :)

I love it so far.
This KumbaCam 3 Axis SmartPhone Stabilizer work great but you need to balance correct. This balancing is not hard to do but it would be better if Kumbacam design the counter balance block to be adjustable so it can fit with larger phone with cover or without.I bought this for my Note 5 but I have to take the cover out for easy insert in the phone holder but without the cover the counter balance block is heavier so it thrown the phone to the right side too much and out of balance, I took the counter balance and drill out 2 small and check then drill the hole bigger until it balance with the Note 5 I have. This is for roll left to right balance.Front to back balance you can move the phone holder but it is bad news you can't move the larger phone much because it interference with the roll motor bracket. I wish Kumbacam sell this bracket as an option for larger phone. If you can balance the phone for roll & pitch correctly then the gimbals motor work very little and the battery last longer.I did try one test with the Note 5 mount out of balance and after 5 minutes of use the Roll's motor is getting hot and start making noise not much noise but it hot and the battery drain very fast. The I try the Note 5 with the balance correctly and it run until the battery 75% used and the motor is cool and it not making noise.I love to give this a 5 star but I have to take one back for few improvement and for larger phone.1. Kumbacam need to come up with better phone holder or copy the bracket from Ikan. But keep the adjustment for Pitch direction.2. I love the standard battery but you need to design the handle with grip like joycestick so it for longer holding. (keep the standard battery) do not design the battery like Ikan or DJI Osmo. Put more battery if you can.I have a machine shop making me a GoPro adapter right now and I will put the picture up here for update the idea.Keep up the good work. Thanks
