Purchased for Another Purpose
I bought this ricer for my husband after reading in a cookbook a recommendation to use one for squeezing water out of frozen spinach. He was skeptical when I handed him the ricer but gave it a try because he really likes spinach and squeezing the water out of it was a pain in the neck. Now he LOVES this product and is eating Spinach two to three times a week. It really does a great job. We haven't used it for any other purpose so I can't comment on how it works for it's intended use.It comes with three different size discs which are very easy to change. I haven't put it in the dishwasher but it isn't difficult to clean by hand. I allow it to air dry over night before I store it away so it doesn't rust.

Nifty Kitchen Gadget
This was definitely a splurge purchase for me - not that it's pricey, but just because I don't even know anyone else who has a "ricer." This device is larger, heavier, sturdier feeling than I expected - all positives. I've used it on potatoes, sweet potatoes, and even to quickly drain crushed pineapple. It works great to deliver a very smooth consistency in a potato, and to remove extra juice. I do advise either very thoroughly draining excess liquid from food before using (like with potatoes), or throwing a dish towel over the top of the device during use, just to avoid any liquid escaping and squirting back toward you. Clean up is a breeze, with the strainer plates easily popping out.

a flaw in removable discs cause this to be not as useful as I wanted.
I am returning this device because I see a flaw now in having multiple plates vs a solid design.. Each time I press down to squeeze out the potato, the bottom plate comes up when you retract the smasher.Originally I was going to purchase as single cut ricer but found this product to be a tad cheaper and it was same day shipping. I regret doing that and I will be processing an RMA for this device.Outside of that issue, I will say it work(ish) and it does seem to be built well. It is just a shame the discs do not lock in.

Pretty good...
I bought this to make gnocchi and they came out great. I am not giving It 5 stars because It is a bit hard to press the potatoes through when they are not super cooked...which for gnocchi you don't want them really mushy. My husband had to help me. Aside from that the consistency of the potatoes was just right.

Save time and put that potato masher away
Makes my life allot easier when trying to make banana bread mashing the bananas instead of a potato masher. I can not wait to use this for when I am making strawberry jams and jellies. You do not know how many uses this has until you just experiment a little with various things. I have only had for a few weeks and I have found the ease and the time saved to be amazing. Whether you use once a week or once a month the time saved will make you wonder what you did with out it!

Well made but the push plate made grinding noise - Returned and refunded
I was really excited when I saw that this ricer is made out of stainless steel. But when I tried it out, there was a grinding when I pushed down on the lever. I had to return it unfortunately because I was worried that the grinding would damage the sides. Too bad, it seemed very well constructed otherwise. Still looking for the right one.I returned it and was refunded the entire amount.

and molded during the Great Depression so he could give one to each of ...
Finally! I've been searching for years for a potato ricer with holes the right size for making passatelli. I bought one from Amazon that SAID it was intended for passatelli, but the holes were way too small. This one has a disc with holes the exact same size as the one my grandfather made from steel he collected, melted down, and molded during the Great Depression so he could give one to each of his 4 children.

Great if you like your mashed spuds a little lumpy.
This is a very well made ricer with three choices of extrusion. Out daughter turned us on to using a ricer. Prior to this we used a mixer to beat potatoes into submission. I like my mashed spuds a little on the lumpy side and this ricer will do the trick.
