Landmarks of Western Art: Impressionism and Post-Impressionism

And Now, This Is How It All Started.....
This is an entry level introduction to 19th century avant-garde movements in the visual arts. It would be recommended for viewers who have a curiosity about drawing and painting but otherwise little knowledge about the prominent trends that changed the way art looks and how those trends have influenced art to this day.

A light introduction to what I consider the best art period out there.
A nice simple explanation of Impressionism and post Impressionism with discussion of four major painters and their works in each group. Thought the experts were knowledgable but not as captivating as you would expect. Serves as a nice introduction to the arts.

hokey
This series is okay for basic info, but the production quality is starved for cash. Not for use if your institution has an art history major (you'll want something a bit newer and academic), but okay for high school, college art appreciation, and community college.

British Review of French Doings
I did like this Video a lot..However, the Female British Narrator had a soft voice with a thick accent which help up a smooth flow to me.

okay but not wonderful
I bought this video as a cultural resource to use in a Grade 11 French course. (the video is in English). The students didn't really enjoy it. Too many talking heads, and one of the experts had a very strong accent that they objected too. However, I like it. If you are an adult who likes PBS shows, you will be okay with this video. It covered the material well and there were lots of examples of Impressionist art. It went all the way up to early modernism/cubism.
