Q: Why is the long range set cheaper than the high density?

Amplifi (Ubiquiti) answer is very misleading. Everything they said is technically true, but it is worth noting that the Mesh Points are ONLY AC on the High Density system. Every other one, including the Long Range, are 802.11N. The main router is the only part that is AC. That is why it is cheaper because the Mesh Points are the older tech. Be very aware that you will see dramatically slower speeds if connected to one of the slower Mesh Points in the Long Range. I do not recommend purchasing anything other than the High Density system as that is the most current technology and is the most future proof.

Q: Does the router have a firewall?

AmpliFi does have a built-in fire-wall. In other routers, when the option of firewall is available, it usually points you to a port forwarding option. We have port forwarding options within the AmpliFi App. Hope this answer helps.

Q: Can you buy more mesh points? Can mesh points connect to mesh points to create an extended bridge? Ex mesh point bedroom connects to patio

AmpliFi is designed to be completely scalable. For those who want to expand their coverage in their home, additional mesh points will be avail. for purchase in the very near future. AmpliFi's multi-hop mesh technology allow mesh points to communicate to each other without the need to communicate to base router. Example: Base > Mesh > Mesh. The hypothetical bedroom mesh point will be able to connect to the patio mesh point. Hope this answer helps!

Q: Can you add additional mesh points?

At this time they do not sell additional mesh points but they should be available soon. I asked if I could buy a second system and use the mesh points from the new one as additional mesh points, the UBNT representative indicated that this would not be possible as the mesh points that come with the system are "tied" to the base hardware. The UBNT rep indicated that additional mesh points should be available in December 2016 or January 2017.
