Excellent shaker! High quality, great sound, and very versatile!

I use this almost every day to add to the music I'm listening to and singing in the car. It goes with so many songs. The sound is great. Absolutely worth the money. Size is perfect, fits in my hand well and is easy to store. Has lasted a long time and seems like it'll keep lasting. Feels cheap because it's so light, but that's definitely not a bad thing. Works really well. Amazing purchase.

Volume: Much better than the two shaky eggs I've used because it's louder so it can be heard over amplified instruments much better. The sound is surprisingly loud, but not metallic or harsh. Handling: The hole in the middle is large enough to put your finger through which gives you an amazing amount of control without having to attempt to grip around the entire shaker. Two Tubes or One?: Although the pic appears to be two tubes laying next to each other, it is definitely one shaker. The two tubes are permanently joined so if your Amazon cart shows 1 then you will receive what is pictured here. Weight: Another advantage of the tubes is that they are quite light relative to their size. Quality: Where the two tubes are joined together, it is very thin plastic. As long as you don't throw it in a gear bag with heavy chrome stands are apply a lot of pressure to it, it should last a long time.

Meinl overs these shakers in three "volume" levels (red, black, and silver cases) designated soft, medium, and loud. I have all three. This silver model has very sharp-edged pellets inside, and with two shaker tubes makes a lot of noise. I am confident it would cut through well in a live playing situation. I have found that it tends to be a bit much in more "unplugged" settings, where the shaker is meant to be more subtle. The red "soft" version feels like it has sand or something really gentle inside. It has a more diffuse sound that sets a more indistinct beat. The medium model is somewhere in between. All three Meinl shakers take a bit of practice to develop a clean sound. Unlike the egg-type shakers, the amount of area that the internal pellets can cover in the two tubes is much larger, and therefore one's hand movements have to be more intentional and controlled to keep all the pellets marching in step and creating a consistent and clean sound. It's not a problem once the issue is recognized. In a more intimate setting, especially if a microphone is being used, these Meinl shakers may be too much, and an egg shaker may work better. I have all at my disposal, and it's nice to have the choice. Overall, if I had to pick only one of the Meinl units, I would probably pick the medium one (black). But I would also have an egg shaker with me just in case.

The sound these little things produce is just incredible! I work with those with extra needs and the fact that a small movement can produce a lot of sound is like gold dust in my trade (music therapy) so if you too want to make extra noise give these a go.

Recensione dopo circa 3 anni di utilizzo. Molto leggero e comodo, di semplice utilizzo, ovviamente per chi ha un minimo di senso del ritmo. I tre colori disponibili non sono pensati per una scelta estetica: il grigio ha un suono più alto, il rosso più basso (adatto alle registrazioni in studio) mentre questo nero ha un suono intermedio, ottimo nel mio caso per live.
