Light Is the New Black: A Guide to Answering Your Soul's Callings and Working Your Light Paperback – July 6, 2015

I am not giving this book five stars because it shifted something within myself, it did no such thing. It did put me back onto the path I was called on years ago. I loved her approach, her writing style, and the energy within the text. If you are already on the path of working your purpose this book may not bring anything new or enlightening, but that isn't to say it won't completely turn someone else's world around. I think this book will inspire a lot of women (and possibly men) to really look deep within and start a journey of working your purpose. For myself, this book was full of reminders and was comforting. You are not alone in your suffering, allow the light to come forward, and I needed to hear that.I really enjoyed the fun approaches to finding "you" (possibly on a more superficial level) like finding your tag line, theme song, etc.What I didn't really get were parts like "Twitter Bios and Fitting In"… I understand where she is coming from, that we cannot worry about trying to define ourselves within 140 characters, you can instantly "feel" just by visiting a social media page. But if there is going to be an entire page dedicated to this topic in a book I would think it should hold more valuable information on the topic, or leave it at simply one sentence. There were a few pages that had me saying "wait, what?". Although, I have to remind myself that in real life I do the same thing, and often jump from topic to topic, but if that sort of thing bothers you this probably isn't the book for you.The way the book is written is pretty random and can sort of be all over the place, but maybe that is the best part?I loved Rebecca's approach to making everyone feel included, reminding the reader that there is no separation and we are all light workers, we are all called for a higher purpose, and we can all find our bliss.

I don't even remember how I "stumbled" onto this book, which of course I didn't, I was clearly guided to it. Thank goodness for that! It was exactly what I needed at this point in my spiritual journey as I'm transitioning from my prior corporate career into "owning" my work as a light worker and medium. I tend to read in short chunks of time, but each time I pick this up thinking I'll read for 15 minutes, it turns out being 2-3 hours into the wee hours of the night. That's because I keep re-reading sentences and sections that strike me profoundly. First time EVER I have highlighted so many sections in one book on my Kindle! In so many ways it feels like Rebecca is telling my story. She accomplishes this by touching the reader with a knowing and familiarity, by sharing so much of her personal journey in a way that is real and raw. She shares her fears, doubts, and emotions (which not all spiritual writers do...some only tell you the 'good' outcomes..or can come off as holding themselves at a higher level, without always sharing the intimate details of the long, intertwining route they took) -- the same thoughts so many of us struggle with. All of this is combined with how Rebecca grew to changer her thoughts and emotions to follow the path to living her authentic life. Reading this feels like you're sitting down with a good friend over a cup of coffee, or wine, who really sees you and understands; and rather than just platitudes, helps you with practical suggestions so you can make these shifts yourself. I also appreciate someone who's willing to throw out some colorful words here and there...makes her all the more real. Along with that, Rebecca provides a call out to all to share their Light and you can feel her love and support coming through for each of us to do so. Whether you're in your 20's or 60's (I'm early 50's) you will find many aspects to relate to. Thank you for heeding the call, sitting down to that writing, and sharing your full Self, Rebecca!

Great job Rebecca! This book was easy to read, relatable and practical providing various engaging activities to implement into one’s daily life.

I have already purchased three copies of this book for friends and plan to purchase a boatload for Christmas gifts. I literally awakened to my highest light and it all culminated due to reading this book. The message is beautiful, clear, easy to understand and filled with value. It is 100% true and applicable to life. The best "gem" for any person is when she speaks of the job you are "stuck" in...if the worst possible outcome of taking the leap to seek out something that is better for you and fills your soul is ending up back in the same spot it is absurd to stay in the place that is the worst case scenario to end up in. Either you remain stuck or take the leap to find something new or, in the worst case, end up exactly where you already were...easy peasy. I recommend that everyone read this book with an open mind and an open heart and do the work; you WON'T be sorry!!!!!

I purchased this book because the author & I have had some definite similarities in our pasts and I too am a student and huge fan of Sonia Choquette. I have done a large amount of personal, spiritual and emotional work; but it's scattered over here and some of it is over there, and there's a bit more right there, ETC., so I found this book to be very helpful in pushing me to get organized to take it to the next level. She speaks a language I understand and I appreciate this; it's real, the journey is not perfect, yet the reasons to step into my light are powerful, ones I no longer want to put off. I do a lot of things to get my work out there, but after reading this, I realized I only do it half-assed, so now I feel as though I have the "permission" to move forward with my intentions. I needed this how-to, thank you:)) And best of luck to the author!
