Really nice veg sampler!
Nice assortment of veg foods...so far we have tried just the taco filling. The taco filling is quite good. You could eat it straight out of the can or heated in the microwave, and that would be fine, but it's better if you drain it and/or cook to remove excess moisture and spice it up a bit with a bit of salt, heat, and sauteed onion, pepper and garlic. With just a bit of effort this product really shines!I love soft tacos, and this product is an excellent, quick, meat-free way to enjoy them. Fantastic!I will update here as we try the other varieties included in the sampler.Update 1:Vegetarian Five Bean Chili: This is a rich, tomato-y, mildly smoky and mildly seasoned bean chili (also contains textured soy protein in place of ground beef). It is quite thick and the flavor is excellent. Folks may want more heat and/or salt, but honestly, it tastes good right out of the can. Really good, and outstanding value!Update 2:Fishless Tuna: I made "tuna salad" with the two small cans included in the sampler. I drained and rinsed the product to remove the oil before mixing it with some Veganaise, celery, onion, lemon juice, sriracha, and salt and pepper. I served this as a sort of tuna melt (over vegan cheese melted on flour tortillas). The result was a nice tasting substitute for tuna salad, although I have to say it is not as good as the taco and chili I review above. Still, I would make it again, and I still have the larger can that I am planning on using in a casserole sometime when the weather cools down. My feeling is that this product would benefit from a bit more aggressive seasoning as part of a heartier dish.Let's be clear here: I like the Fishless Tuna, just not as much as I liked the taco and chili, and I did end up eating the two small cans' worth of tuna salad in one day, so...yeah, pretty, pretty good!Note: the small cans really don't hold as much of the product as you might think, which is why I had to open the second small can when I was making my salad.Update 3:Chick'n Patties and sliders: These two are really just different sizes of the same thing. There are four (I think) of each size in their respective cans. For these we have made sandwiches (heated the patties in microwave), fajitas, and straight out of the can. All were good.I thought that since these were canned that they would be somewhat mushy, but that is not the case. They have a sort of breading that was fried or baked before packing in gravy, and the coating, while not exactly crispy, gives them a bit of toothsome quality that you wouldn't expect. They hold together quite well and lend themselves to dicing or slicing or serving whole. I sliced them for my fajitas and they were very tasty indeed.Due to them being more-or-less an imitation fried chicken, I don't think that they as versatile as say, the frozen Quorn naked cutlets, but the convenience of being ready-to-eat right out of the can is very nice, and in fact we will be bringing these with us on our travels. You can get bread etc. everywhere, but you can't always find vegan protein!Update 4:We have now made repeat case-purchases of the taco filling, chili, and chick'n patties...you can't really give much more of a compliment than that!

Better off trying something else
Never heard of this and wanted to try it. I made the mistake of ordering without double checking ingredients and just assumed all of it was vegan. Some of the items are not vegan, but everything is vegetarian. I really do NOT like the chicken patty. It's horrible. I'm not sure if the boca oringial vegan burgers are worse or not, they are both pretty bad. It does not taste like chicken at all. I gave it to our pet chickens because I simply could did not find it appetizing, they didn't seem to mind.I've had non soy or seitan burgers taste more like chicken than this!! Courage burger, if you heard of that is better even though not great. The only ones I have liked so far are the tuna and the taco meat. The taco meat is pretty good for what it is, but I'm not a big taco fan. I really enjoyed the tuna though and really think they should highlight that product more. It can do a pretty good passable tuna salad or sandwhich with the right dressing and spices or even without it's still pretty decent. I haven't had the chili yet. I simply don't like chili, last time I had a bean chili I was horribly gassy and bloated for days. The horribleness of the chicken patty was enough to make me detract 2 stars. Tuna is a good bet if you are looking for an alternative tuna substitute. Taco filling is worth using as well, and I actually prefer it to the boca crumbles.

Pros and Cons
Pros: The taco filling and the chili are EXCELLENT as is. Just heat and serve.Cons: The fishless tuna is OK in certain dishes, but I didn't like it as a salad ingredient. My favorite way to prepare it was to make "patties" out of it with breadcrumbs, egg, mayo, lemon, and dill. I coat them in corn meal and fry them up like crab cakes. The chicken sliders and patties are also OK, but I would check the seasoning on them before serving, to make sure it is to your taste. We found them a bit bland, so I seasoned them with Vegeta (also found on Amazon) and that made a world of difference.I can't wait until they sell these items individually, as the taco filling will become a staple in my house!

Next time use egg substitutes.
The chili was fantastic, the beans were good, too. I couldn't eat any of the chicken products because they contain eggs. I didn't know that when I bought it, so I gave them to my girlfriend, she doesn't mind. The taco filling is okay. I really would have preferred to have known that this food was not meatless as an egg is a species of life form therefore I consider it a meat.Overall, the price was good, what i could eat wasn't that bad. The tuna was a little overly fishy but altogether it was a fair deal and It's a sampler so you can try these things, so overall good experience.

Good food!
This is the 3rd time I've purchased this "sample" package intending to give it as a gift. I'm super health conscious, a great cook, practice yoga and karate and rarely eat anything canned or processed. These products are amazing in many ways. Thank you Amazon and Atlantic Natural Foods! Oh, the other vegetarian food companies on Amazon are terrific too. Vegetarian scallops by all companies sold on Amazon are super tasty too. My friends who still eat animals love everything I cook. Connecticut is an enlightened state yet before Amazon I'd have to drive 50 miles for something different to make for a party ... Chick'n Patty marinated with white wine, honey, chunks of fresh garlic, slices of tomato, basil and oregano on a charcoal grill are great for a backyard dinner feast. Thank you all.
