I grew up eating tons of King Salmon. During the Covid-19 crisis we wanted to treat ourselves with some King Salmon filets. The package arrived on time and the salmon was completely frozen and properly packed with dry ice in a styro cooler. Nice job.I slacked the salmon under refrigeration and after thawing, removed it from the cryovac. The color was good but the fish was a bit mushy. I would expect it to be less firm than fresh and to be fair, it wasn't bad. The difference is that when I freeze King Salmon at home, it usually thaws in better condition than this product did. Was I disappointe?, Yes, a little. Was it entirely objectionable? Absolutely not. Would I buy it again? Probably not. I would prefer to purchase it fresh @ $40LB. and get the salmon in peak form. That said, if you live in places where King Salmon is hard to come by, I would recommend this over nothing. I am a bit of a King Salmon snob, but to me it looks like this fish was on the boat for sometime before being processed and frozen. Either that, or somewhere along the cold-chain, it thawed partially and was re-frozen, which seems unlikely. All in, it's not like eating it dockside in Alaska but it beats having to eat other inferior salmon species.
