Almost three years later, still no need for battery replacement
I was just randomly looking at my previous orders today I scrolled down to look at what I had ordered a long time ago and came across this watch. I ordered it on October 2, 2011. Today is April 14, 2014. It is still running on the same battery that it originally came with, almost three years later. The very reason I wanted this watch is because the ads claimed that it doesn't (or at least very rarely) need a new battery. My previous watch was an expensive Swiss Army watch and after about a year it needed a new battery. I took it to the place I bought it from and they then had to send it all the way to Switzerland. Eventually after about 4 or 5 months in limbo I got my watch back and shortly thereafter (like within a month) it broke again. I just threw it out in frustration (it cost me around $400 new when I bought it). So basically this watch, while in my opinion it is not very flashy or stylish, it is rather basic in its appearance, which I think can be a good thing; it gets the job done. It is sturdy, it works, it does not break down, it does not need a new battery, it does not lose time. It works. If you want a great watch that can stand the test of time you will not be disappointed with this one.

Might be the last watch you ever buy
This Citizen eco drive watch is fabulous and it definitely deserves 5 stars. If youve ever experienced a situation where you are so happy with an item that it becomes a no brainer choice when its time to get another. In my case, this Citizen eco meets the stringent parameters: Beautiful styling, reliable, maintenance free, salt waterproof/resistant, feels solid and will not fall apart on you, accurate, face is tough, etc etc. Let me tell ya, my old citizen watches are still going strong and still very accurate. These never need winding and even if you dont wear it for a week, the battery gets charged from your nightstand light even. These are the activities that my old ecos have endured: Ocean kayaking, fishing (flipping in ocean too), lake swimming, surfing in ocean snorkeling and diving, spear fishing (SoCA area), mountain climbing, hiking biking, sleeping. The fact is, i seldom ever remove the watch and shower with it and bathe it on a daily basis. It was about 4 years since i bought my last eco so i thought i would get another one just for the heck of it. That old one really is still going strong as if it were new. That one definitely not new looking but it still looks outstanding. Like my leather yukon Crocs sandals, these watches are used and abused daily, and that is why i shall continue to make the citizen eco and yukon sandals an everyday thing, and will look forward to buying the next one when i find a remote reason to do so. I dare you to wear this watch for a week.

Love the watch - simple, dependable, nice to look at
The watch keeps perfect time, and will for as long as I own it. The weight is just right, and it's easy to read at night without back-lighting. And it's silent - no ticking. This watch is pretty light on features, though, and not very flashy. Best watch for the money, I think.

Excellent Watch
The watch looks at least as good as it appears in Amazon photos. The band looks great with a blend of brushed and polished metal. It looks and feels pretty heavy and solid, just right on my wrist which is average sized for a man. Comfortable to wear. After about a month, it is holding time perfectly. The dial and hands have a high contrast and look very attractive. The hands and markers glow fairly brightly in the dark. The date display is recessed so much that it is hard to read unless lighting is direct and/or you have good vision.Amazon price was a lot better than local retailers' sale prices. I had to remove a few links myself to fit my wrist - using a cheap $4 tool also purchased from Amazon.

A good watch that suffers from an exposed crystal design.
I would like to give this watch a 5-star rating because it is really a very good watch for the money, but unfortunately it suffers from a major design flaw. The Achilles Heel on this watch is the placement of the crystal. I purchased this watch in June and only got to enjoy it for a month before the crystal chipped. With the problem stemming from the design and the crystal replacements (which is not covered by the warranty) costing 1/3 the cost of the watch, I'm not sure if I even want to bother having it repaired. The problem comes from the fact that the edge of the crystal is exposed and sticks up just a fraction of an inch above the surrounding case. In addition to being exposed, the crystal is not beveled at the edge and so it is able to "catch" on anything that might brush against it. If that something happens to be hard, it will chip/fracture the crystal with even the mildest of pressure. If you only plan to wear this on special occasions or if your job does not involve putting your hands near any objects, then this timepiece is a very nice choice. It is thin and light, has simple subdued styling, has very accurate time-keeping, and has an easy-to-read dial. Aside from the issue with the crystal--which is a pretty big issue for me, unfortunately--I really do like everything else about this watch.
